Feeling like Emma Thompson in love actually

Making breakfast for the kids, dog, dh. Bustling everyone about to get ready for the day. My heart is actually breaking and I am fucking gutted.

Me and dh took the dog out for a walk early this morning and it was really lovely. Then I was bursting and couldn't hold it in. Dh was walking ahead and I just out of no where flooded myself. Not only that but poo ran down my leg also.

I walked back with him apparently none the wiser. Got in and jumped in the shower.

I am so absolutely mortified and embarrassed..any help on this and what I can do to stop it happening again.

I am honestly not a dirty troll and mumsnet can vouch for this.

I feel humiliated and old. Is this it my body gave up on me?

I am early 40s 2 kids. Never done pelvic exercises because I walked loads.

I just want to cry. But putting a brave face on for the day.

Thanks for any help you can give 💐

Awwww, don't feel bad about this. It happens (should I say 'shit happens'?!).

I was walking home once when all of my bodily functions let me down. Middle of the day. I was trying to cover my soiled jeans with my coat, desperately trying to unlock my front door, when my elderly neighbour, who chats for a good hour, suddenly appeared! I still don't think she's forgiven me for slamming the door on her!

I also have 'the germ' that's going around and coughing fits have resulted in several accidents.

If it happens regularly, though, pop to your GP for advice.

How awful but no harm done!

Not sure why you think you don't need to do pelvic floor exercises because you go walking though?

If it helps, I piss myself every time I get on a trampoline.

I haven't even had children!

Sorry this happened to you @MzLucky - I remember having a fart misjudgement when I was in my teens (and at work) and had to ditch my pants in the sanitary bin in the ladies loos (that was accessible to customers!). It's never happened since thankfully.

Just one more thing to add to your mental load morning checklist - Quick trip to the loo before we leave!

Happens to me all the time. I have a bag and it explodes/ leaks/ poomedeggin's off at an alarming rate. On a tube, in shops, in the car, next to the dog and kids yesterday, when I teach....
I have just learnt to brave it out.....

Bodies do let us down sometimes. I started a new job a few years back, desperate to impress, on day 4 I shit myself! Basically i sharted, just a bit, managed to clean myself up, knickers in the bin etc. Never happened before or since.

I was once in a check in queue at Heathrow catching a flight to Auckland via Singapore. I'd checked in pretty much everything. Just a minimal bag, knowing that the flight change was going to be very fast. I'd been in the pub most of the afternoon. The flight was cancelled. Medical emergency. Loads of hanging around. Darent find a toilet in case I missed instructions. Pissed myself on the minibus to the hotel where they took us for the night. Minimal clothes change in my tiny bag and the main bag was all checked in and unavailable. Then an unscheduled two night stop in Singapore - still no main bag - until the airline could get me onto an Auckland flight. I did lots of washing in hotel bathrooms and wrapping myself in a sheet.

To make you feel better...

The wee thing happened to me at my DS' party on a trampoline while I was pretending to be a young and cool mum. (I am neither). Luckily a bunch of 4 year olds are unphased by someone pissing themselves because they do it all the time! I wiped the trampoline off and they kept bouncing while I died quietly inside.

🤣

Thanks for sharing everyone. Has definitely made me stress about it less. Still mortified but that will pass. On a positive note has brought home to me to start pelvic floor exercises.
