The images and footage in that link are just pathetic. Really?!?! All those people queuing and pushing their way through crowds for a hyped up energy drink that will have zero effect on their lives.

I've lost faith in society. 🤦‍♀️

Hellocatshome · 29/12/2022 13:25

Its flavoured coconut water that doesn't actually taste that nice. It has achieved cult status amongst the tweens age group due to being marketed by social media stars. Kids at my DSs school have been selling it at £1 per capful to their friends. They have also made it hard to get hold off in order to make it more desirable. I guarantee if you could buy it in every shop the kids would have got bored of it already.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 29/12/2022 13:25

Just here for the info. That has had me stumped too. Local bloke was selling 4 of them for a tenner each over Christmas!

I have no idea why!

EmmaAgain22 · 29/12/2022 13:26

I was going to pop to Aldi this morning, thank goodness I was too lazy!

Pinkflipflop85 · 29/12/2022 13:28

Friend had bought some before xmas and offered it to us at a get together.

It tastes absolutely rank.

But sheeple are going to sheeple.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 29/12/2022 13:45

That's it?!?!

Some pillock on SM makes it and says it's "fab, gear and groovy" and grown adults act like that?

FFS!

It's scary isn't it. Explains a lot though.

thepatronsaintofbubblewrap · 29/12/2022 13:51

Isn't it more adults that are getting it for their kids?
And the kids don't want to be left out of social groups at school?

petermaddog · 29/12/2022 14:04

kids shouldnt do energy drinks
or adults for that matter

dementedpixie · 29/12/2022 14:08

Someone on my fb posted about making early morning trips to asda to find it and today was the day they managed to get some! Crazy

Luckily my kids have no interest in it or following that sort of trend

Its not an energy drink, no caffeine involved at all. Its just flavoured coconut water.

Kanaloa · 29/12/2022 14:10

It’s YouTube merchandise that’s well marketed to the type of people who watch those types of videos. It’s not really that confusing. Would I buy it? No. But it’s the same silliness that has people paying hundreds of pounds for a shoelace that Gucci are pretending is a belt, or battered old trainers that look like something your Uncle Gerry would mow the grass in because they’re ‘designer.’

Kanaloa · 29/12/2022 14:12

Like people aren’t buying the drink for the drink, any more than they buy a sidemen hoodie for the hoodie. It’s merchandising for a favourite YouTuber. Obviously not a great use of money and not something I’d buy, but it is hardly really confusing as to what it is/is it laced with gold etc.

petermaddog · 29/12/2022 14:14

says a energy drink????????????????

dementedpixie · 29/12/2022 14:16

Googling suggests it's mainly coconut water with added crap but no caffeine

Hellocatshome · 29/12/2022 14:19

petermaddog · 29/12/2022 14:14

says a energy drink????????????????

OP has called it an energy drink, that doesn't make it true. It is coconut water and flavourings and no caffeine and therefore not an energy drink or any more harmful to children than other soft drinks.

SortinMyMH · 29/12/2022 14:19

Ds dad, my ex got ds some paid £10a bottle. 3 different bottles! Ds wasn't even fussed had only mentioned he wanted to try it to see what the fuss was about.
He didnt like any of them

Doggywoof · 29/12/2022 14:21

Thank you for all your replies. I was just on my lunch break and doing a no-brainer scroll there. Just cannot fathom why would people do this. I guess I was having a moment of sadness for the humankind, thats all. Grown ups buying to make money off it, that I can understand but there's kids as well!

Thanks all...

I just assumed the people pushing and shoving for it are planning on selling it on, not drinking it.

RambamThankyouMam · 29/12/2022 14:22

Humans are idiots. We are doomed as a species.

WearingPierreCadault · 29/12/2022 14:22

Kids like youtubers, this is the cheapest youtuber merch to buy. Kids can afford it with pocket money etc.

Drinks and snacks have had cult like status before, as they're cheap and kids can afford them, sunny d springs to mind.

Doggywoof · 29/12/2022 14:22

I thought it was! Said Prime energy drink in that article! My bad if it isn't...

We deserve to be wiped out! I mean wtf, it's a drink!!!

Doggywoof · 29/12/2022 14:24

That was my first thought exactly hence the post, just to get a sense of my own reality. I have young kids and I watch YouTube but still don't get it. Getting old I think...

but you can at least buy that online, you don't need to queue at 5am!
