People with low intelligence can be manipulated very easily.

The majority of these people will have a below average IQ.

PeekAtYou · 29/12/2022 14:27

Adults are buying it for kids or to make money.

It's being marketed by YouTube stars around tween age. There's a limit of one of each flavour per customer so if a parent and child goes then they can buy twice as many because they can queue separately.

Time is money though

No if you dont work it isn't.

From a young age I taught my kids about the manipulation of adverts. How they may say something is the best, but of course they would, because they want you to buy it.

Mainly I did this because one of mine is autistic and was obsessed with JML products and would stand by those TVs in shops and beg me to buy the stuff because it was the best, the person on the tv said so!

So luckily my lot are pretty cynical when it comes to believing hype around viral stuff, and don't ask for shit like this. Not that I'd queue up if they did. If they wanted to, that's up to them, but I'd hope they have more sense.

No idea but I drove past Aldi today and shopped at Sainsburys instead as i didn’t want to be caught up in it.

I’m raising mine to be complete cynics about everything. Much more likely to deal with the real world if you can see the motivation behind it. Which is 99.9% always money and power.

Allmarbleslost · 29/12/2022 14:36

Someone on my Facebook queuing up and bought some so that her 13 year old can sell
it on and make a profit. Bloody ridiculous.

StarCourt · 29/12/2022 15:12

its Tik Tok influence

PriamFarrl · 29/12/2022 15:18

DH and I were talking just yesterday about all the hype surrounding Cabbage Patch Dolls back in the 80s.
In the past there have been loads of crazes for things that today seem like madness, tulip bulbs for example. Or pineapples.
This is just the same thing but via a different medium.

I’m not saying it’s right, be equally I don’t think we should be claiming this to be the end of days.

Isn't it more adults that are getting it for their kids?
And the kids don't want to be left out of social groups at school?

That really doesn't make it any better! Worse, I think.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 29/12/2022 15:44

It's mostly water. 10% is coconut water.

Bizarre. Really bizarre.

This is exactly what i was talking about at work today..

I got to Aldi at 7.40 .. My Ds has asd, and absolutely adores the sidemen..does not drink enough. I queued got him 3 bottles. He is very happy.

There have been many crazes, loom bands, buzz light year, it was smelly rubbers at school, sticker books, fidget spinners..

Its great marketing, are the dragged in yes but gee they are.

They were up early and out the house at 7.30.this morning excited for a £2 drink.. There are so many more things.

Also they sold out in minutes. If you arrived at 8.10 stores were generally clear. I did a basket of shopping with prime, walked straight to the till.

These will be the same people that are moaning about the cost of living...yet they can afford to buy energy drinks just to be cool. It's pathetic.

That is just nasty right-wing bullshit.
