Brain is fried on scaling things up. How many or weight would you make for 10 people??

I’d do enough for 3 each when cut up then an additional 10 for the greedy ones.

DementedPanda · 24/12/2022 17:34
  1. 6 each maybe?
HelpMeGetThrough · 24/12/2022 17:37

3 each and chop in half. Then the rest so they can go cold. Cant beat cold roast spuds.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 24/12/2022 17:37

I always work on 3 roasties (usually 1 potato) each and an extra potato for every 2 people.

heldinadream · 24/12/2022 17:37

Giant-ish potatoes - 2 each. Medium potatoes - 3 each. Titchy potatoes - way more than you can be bothered to count.
Better to have too many than run out!

I'd be doing 45 golf ball ish size roasties.

This is too funny!! There's always that one potato eater who has the lot 😂

NandoReindeer · 24/12/2022 17:44

5 each

onepieceoflollipop · 24/12/2022 17:48

I’ve got 9 to cater for, but some are very fussy and some are kids. I’m basing my quantities as if everyone will eat everything and that I will do 9 full adult sized plates. That will leave plenty of spare food.

I’m doing 4 decent size roasties each. Plus a few spare.
I’m also doing beef, turkey, pigs in blankets, yorkies, stuffing balls and 4 types of veg…so I think the plates will be full enough.

greenacrylicpaint · 24/12/2022 17:48

3kg

onepieceoflollipop · 24/12/2022 17:49

(In terms of weight it was about 3kg of potatoes - I had 2 x 2.5kg bags and started in on the second one.)

NoelNoNoel · 24/12/2022 17:53

6 each.

tulips27 · 24/12/2022 17:54

Can any leftover potatoes be reheated tomorrow?

It's better to err on the side of too many unless you could run out of potatoes.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 24/12/2022 17:54

Who only eats 3 roast potatoes?! We go through at least 10 each

Exactly Im reading this in shock

3 roast potatoes????

yoshiblue · 24/12/2022 17:58

I agree with 5 or 6 each

Anon1224 · 24/12/2022 17:59

Do you want to host again? If not 3 each is a the way to go, especially since those who go first won't realise and take 5 each, leaving a couple of people without.

There is a tonne of other shit on the plate you've got to hack your way through.

If its the sort of affair where you help yourself, I would normally take around 4 to 5, with a view for a second helping once I'd cleared a bit on the plate

So about 10. I do make them fairly small though as I cut each potato into 3rds for maximum cornerage and therefore crispness

But although its hard work I do get through the other shit on the plate too.

Fuck me! 6 each - With all the other food too? I'm doing spuds for 18 & there is no way in the world I'm peeling/ cooking over 100 potatoes!
2 each for adults, 1 each for kids, plus a couple for the pot = 30 for roast potatoes.
My sister is doing dauphinoise, so that will up the potato quotient overall.

Mintyt · 24/12/2022 18:05

I do 5 each

Mintyt · 24/12/2022 18:05

Which doesn't mean I serve 5 but it works for us

Suzi888 · 24/12/2022 18:06

@bellac11 might you have a roastie addiction ? 🤣 good planning though. I love a roast pot.

HelpMeGetThrough · 24/12/2022 18:06

That is seriously stealthy veg prep.

Doesnt 6 refer to 6 roasties, not 6 potatoes?

So if one large potato makes 3 roast potatoes, to serve 6 each to 18 people, means two potatoes each, so 36 large potatoes.
