HELP HELP HELP MOUSE IN BEDROOM!

Alltheprettyseahorses · 24/12/2022 17:16

Sorry for shouting!

The bloody cat has brought a mouse into DD's bedroom and I don't know where it's gone. I'm sitting in the dark with the cat but is there anything else I can do? It's Christmas eve and the shops will be shutting!

Get the cat to find the mouse. Have a box ready to put it in.

WaddleAway · 24/12/2022 17:16

Move out.

Newfluff · 24/12/2022 17:17

I don't understand the shops shutting remark?

The mouse won't be going shopping?

KangarooKenny · 24/12/2022 17:18

Open the front door and your DD’s bedroom door, shut all the others, then make a racket to flush it out.

JaninaDuszejko · 24/12/2022 17:19

Are you sure it isn't the 7 headed mouse king? Get yourself a magical wooden nutcracker Clara.

FGS I am in stitches. Ho Ho Ho. That really made me laugh. Thanks I needed it.

MrsBrandonspiano · 24/12/2022 17:20

Are you thinking of going to get the mouse a last minute gift? Could you try a petrol station?

Hellocatshome · 24/12/2022 17:20

Shut the cat in the bedroom with the mouse and go about your day. The cat will either catch it or it will have disappeared into the voids under your floor/behind your walls. Either way not a lot you can do about it now.

PriamFarrl · 24/12/2022 17:21

Mice run around the edge of the room. Get a bucket, a ruler and some peanut butter. Put the bucket at the edge of the room. Lean the ruler up from right by the skirting boards to the bucket. Put peanut butter on the top of the ruler. Hopefully the mouse will run up the ruler and fall in the bucket.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 24/12/2022 17:22

Re shops shutting - I meant they'll be closing early so I won't have time to run round looking for a trap.

Cat is now useless. Am currently showing him youtube mouse videos to get his hunting instinct going again.

Will try the noise thing. I also have a little box I could bait with a piece of snickers.

EVHead · 24/12/2022 17:22

Peanut butter or chocolate to lure it out. Inside a shoebox so you can put the lid on pronto?

We had one in our front room that wouldn’t go near the mousetraps. It ran about for a bit. Then hid. I found it a few weeks later when it started to smell. 🤢

Or, you get an empty Pringles tube, put peanut butter right at the end. Put that along the skirting board and stay still. Watch and as soon as the mouse goes in you pop the lid on.

SinnerBoy · 24/12/2022 17:27

Where are you? I'll get my daughter to come round and catch it. Voles, frogs, trapped birds, spiders; she gets them all!

Somanysocks · 24/12/2022 17:30

Poor mouse

WaddleAway · 24/12/2022 17:34

Somanysocks · 24/12/2022 17:30

Poor mouse

They’re vermin. They don’t have any control of their bladders so leak urine constantly. Would you want one in your child’s bedroom?

carefulcalculator · 24/12/2022 17:35

This is why cats make awful pets, they maim and kill so many other animals.

On the plus side for you though OP - I thought you had a mouse infestation, but you only have one mouse to find!

Alltheprettyseahorses · 24/12/2022 17:39

@SinnerBoy I'm in Liverpool, I'd take you up on that!

Don't worry @Somanysocks it wouldn't be the first mouse I've rescued from the cat, I'd only use him to flush it out if he started to cooperate. They're normally outside though! Just want it gone ASAP.

Am doing box/ruler/snickers and pringles tube with peanut butter. Mouse buffet!

I would guess sleigh stacker or reindeer harness engineer

Redebs · 24/12/2022 18:03

@carefulcalculator agree, cats are an absolute menace to wildlife

spiderontheceiling · 24/12/2022 18:14

Is the cat doing anything helpful such as sitting in a particular room and staring intently at where the mouse is? That's what our cat does when a mouse goes into hiding. This means we can prepare a cordon and then move the bit of furniture or whatever the mouse is hiding behind which caused the mouse to run and, when it's cornered, put a plastic bowl under the top. We then slide the long handled dustpan brush under the bowl and carry it outside and up the road to release it in some long grass. Theoretically, this is so that it can run off and live happily ever after in the fields further up the road. However, the cats who live in the adjacent house are very efficient mice killing machines so it's really just a meals on wheels service for them.

What I am meaning is, it won't be long until it's bedtime for her DD depending on age. Would you put your daughter to bed with a mouse in the room Xmas Sad
