Coughing so much it makes me vomit

Hi - I’ve had the bad cold that a lot of people have since Monday.

Today and yesterday especially I’ve coughed a lot - a dryish cough but at one point both yesterday and today it was so bad that it made me vomit.

I haven’t had a bad cough like this for a long time - it seems to have calmed down for the evening a little (and I have taken Night Nurse which seems to help) but don’t know if generally I should be worried and do something else?

My cough has been similar in close to almost being sick the past few days, although it's normally with the muscus getting stuck.

I started turning a corner yesterday and today almost feel back to normal (I am still coughing but it doesn’t hurt) - all in all it lasted 7 days and in the middle of it I thought it was never going away.

I wish everyone a swift recovery too .

I thought the same last week and now it's back with a vengeance.

I've found my people! I'm three weeks into this and exhausted. Slightly better today, but yesterday I barely moved off the sofa. I felt so guilty but I've honestly never felt this ill in my life and moving around sets the cough off so badly. I'm missing a trip to see DH's lovely family because of it and will be stuck at home alone for three days. So fed up. It started as a rotten cold but i think it's probably bronchitis now. Will see if DH can get me some covonia before he goes.

I thought this as I was reading the thread. When I had a cough that was so bad it made me vomit it was whooping cough.

I did wonder whether it was whooping cough when went into second week of it, although couldn’t see a doctor so I just put up with it. Taken 8 weeks to almost clear up now

Hope it’s not whooping cough. Heart rate is 115bpm which worries me, took forever and a day to get through to 111 and hours waiting for a call back but the nurse believes that’s normal. Feel so rotten- and worried. Tried to go to walk in centre but the queue was 5hrs and I could hear people in there with hacking coughs, so guess it is not just us.

I've been steam inhaling with eucalyptus oil today plus a hot water bottle on my chest and that seems to have helped.
