I need ideas, my brain seems to have stopped working and just can't think of anything nice

we're not. Breakfast will be scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on bagels, then we'll have canapés from Tesco at 1ish, and dinner at 3pm.

Mummadeze · 22/12/2022 20:22

Probably avocado with prawn cocktail in it and lots of Chinese starter things to nibble at like spring rolls and satay sticks. Don’t go together but I don’t care. We just have everything we like on Xmas day.

Soapboxqueen · 22/12/2022 20:23

Baked camembert
Smoked salmon
Prawn cocktail
Duck rillete
Yoghurt cheese (lemon/dill and walnut/honey)
Crackers

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/12/2022 20:24

Nuffink

I love C’mas dinner too much to want to eat anything that would get in the way of going back for more

Also pretty passionate about the cheese board later 😁

AkoraEdelherb · 22/12/2022 20:26

Russian salad, cheese and lots of different crisps. We're not British if that helps put it into perspective 😂

RulaCabula · 22/12/2022 20:27

French onion soup and a soda bread roll.
For the kids - garlic mushrooms and cheesy garlic bread.

I didn't do a starter last year and everyone complained 🙄

Jinglebellrocks · 22/12/2022 20:27

We never have a starter, this was tradition growing up, and something I've kept going with my family. It's a far too big dinner with all of the trimmings, then desserts a little later after stomach's settle.

DappledThings · 22/12/2022 20:30

Nothing. It's a massive meal. Never had a starter with it.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 22/12/2022 20:38

No starter here id rather save room for dessert

Deadringer · 22/12/2022 20:38

We love a good ol' prawn cocktail, and some smoked salmon. We never bother with dessert though. I mean we buy mince pies and Christmas pudding but we never eat them on the day.

Elerandooo · 22/12/2022 20:45

Homemade Sweet Potato and Chorizo Soup.

ginslinger · 22/12/2022 20:46

canapes and cava - no starter

SixCharactersinSearchofanAuthor · 22/12/2022 20:47

A selection box.

Catdaft · 22/12/2022 20:49

Pate & garlic bread

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 22/12/2022 20:50

Selection box here too 😂

gogohmm · 22/12/2022 20:51

No starters unless chocolate counts

JorisBonson · 22/12/2022 20:51

Another prawn cocktail here. My nana made it for us every Christmas, and we've kept that tradition going since she passed (with her special recipe).

anon666 · 22/12/2022 20:52

Never bother. The meal itself is so huge!!!

Damnloginpopup · 22/12/2022 20:53

Murasakispillowbook · 22/12/2022 20:53

We have mushroom soup every year.

Maxifly · 22/12/2022 20:54

Son making Thai fish cakes, also bringing roll mop herrings and smoked salmon. We like all of those things.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 22/12/2022 20:54

I can't believe people can fit a starter in!

After breakfast and all the sweets and snacks, where do you put it?!

And no, Im not a competitive undereater. I'm the greediest person around
