Do you use same wrapping paper from Santa as previous years?

OP posts:

Yes. Although I worry I'm setting myself up for a huge failure if it's ever discontinued

NetballHoop · 22/12/2022 15:54

I just use whatever we have in the cupboard. This might well include birthday wrapping paper.

Figgypudding123 · 22/12/2022 15:57

Santa presents get wrapped in brown paper here. Usually with a nice festive ribbon on them. To distinguish them from family presents.

My dd was about 8 when she clocked that her presents were wrapped in the same paper that had been in the cupboard .

redpinkyellow · 22/12/2022 16:04

This is how I started to get suspicious that Santa was actually parents so I use different paper and hide it from the kids.

Thought I was being a mark and bought paper on sale last year but the kids have seen it now so bought some more last week and hidden it better!

upfucked · 22/12/2022 16:04

Yes, red and green tissue paper. Santa only brings stocking gifts to our house.

ThreeFeetTall · 22/12/2022 16:06

Ah...how about this tip from my family- Santa doesn't wrap presents at all!

SheWoreYellow · 22/12/2022 16:07

Different every year. We have some left over from last year and I said we shouldn’t use it.

Same here. I don't wrap Santa's presents. They are taken out from the garage into the kids room on Christmas eve, all unwrapped.

mogtheexcellent · 22/12/2022 16:23

Bright coloured tissue paper. Did this as easy for small hands to rip open. Santa does a stocking with small item from list.

Actually not sure i have enough for this year. Must check

We wrap with crepe paper for the same reason

StephanieSuperpowers · 22/12/2022 16:24

Santa doesn't wrap presents here - he puts a little sticker on them.

MassiveSalad22 · 22/12/2022 16:24

Yes plain brown with message written on in black felt tip in my Santa font 😄 will always be able to get brown paper and black pen I am guessing!

Smallorangecat · 22/12/2022 16:29

Father Christmas has different paper to me, because I remember as a child asking why he had the same wrapping paper as my parents. He doesn’t have the same paper every year, but will finish off any of his paper that’s left from the previous year.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 22/12/2022 17:31

I'm another one who figured out that Father Christmas wasn't real through the wrapping paper. I actually humored my parents until I was 9, when DM wrapped all my presents in the same Lion King wrapping paper.

At that point I assumed she must think I was a total idiot, so I told her she'd been rumbled years ago.

itsgettingweird · 22/12/2022 17:44

Yes - as I'm colour and design. But not exactly the same.

My tree paper matches the colour scheme of the tree yes I'm that sad Grin

Family presents are a sore rate roll so easily identifiable which go to parents and which don't.

Santa paper always red with santas on.

Ds is 18 this year and said he's not putting out a sticking bit for some reason I stuck with the Santa paper all the way through his teens 🤷‍♀️🤣

DelurkingAJ · 22/12/2022 17:59

Different paper (point of which is to slow down stocking opening!). DS1 (10, who cheerfully told me he’d figured it out several years ago) pointed out to DH this year that one roll of paper shouldn’t be used as it was ‘Santa paper from last year’…so they do notice!

EncroachingLoaf · 22/12/2022 18:03

Santa always uses brown paper here, for all the reasons mentioned above 😆

DrFoxtrot · 22/12/2022 18:05

I can't recall ever noticing the wrapping paper as a child Grin

MajorCarolDanvers · 22/12/2022 18:10

I use whatever is left over - no idea whether Santa used it or I did - and would be amazed if they kids remembered.

Gooseysgirl · 22/12/2022 18:18

Oh dear god life is way too short to be wrapping Santa presents!!! Get a big sack and chuck them in there instead if they are young enough not to notice! Ours always put out the big sacks and stockings on Christmas Eve next to the chimney. Wrapped gifts from family under the tree. Job done!

Twoscotcheggsandajarofmarmite · 22/12/2022 18:20

Oldest son always had Santa on his paper, younger son always had an animal of some description, reindeer/penguins/polar bears, and my daughter always had fairies or angels. They all knew which present in the pile were theirs and Santa didn’t have to be arsed writing a million gift tags at two in the morning while slightly pissed on Baileys.

Sierra259 · 22/12/2022 18:21

I get a big 10m roll for Santa's presents and use that every year until it runs out. I can never remember what looks like until I dig it out from the back of the cupboard, so I doubt the DC would!

CrapBucket · 22/12/2022 18:23

Santa wraps in different paper to me, but not the same each year. Not wrapping stocking presents or making them easy to open defeats the object of slowing down the kids 🤣

MaryKristmas · 22/12/2022 18:25

I buy 3 different designs - one for each child and their presents are wrapped in that paper. It is carefully hidden so no one suspects! 😆
