Do you use same wrapping paper from Santa as previous years?

OP posts:

We leave our scraps out for Father Christmas - so the stocking presents are wrapped in a mix of everything we have and I get to use up those end bits that are left over.

KingscoteStaff · 22/12/2022 18:32

Santa only brings stockings in this house and they are always wrapped in last year's paper (carefully saved and smoothed out...)

MistyIsland · 22/12/2022 18:33

Santa delivers stocking presents wrapped in whatever this years interest is so this year it’s Harry Potter and Gaming wrapping paper…last year was Percy pig and dinosaurs etc

presents from me & dh are wrapped in brown paper then I stamp them with their names and a Christmas tree normally with a co-ordinating ribbon from the Christmas tree decorations

Presents from Father Christmas are always wrapped in red wrapping paper and I deliberately don’t use red for anything else. Saves any confusion and helps stops me wrapping things in wrong paper by mistake!

whatat · 22/12/2022 18:42

Yes! Special paper. The same each year. Always available and easily identifiable... but such a pain having to hide it so as not to give the game away.

This morning I tiptoed to the car where it's been hidden in the boot for the past three weeks so I could do some early morning wrapping before they woke. Then had to make sure I picked up and hid any little scraps on the floor.

Can't wait till they know the truth and I can stop sneaking around!

I buy 3 different designs - one for each child and their presents are wrapped in that paper. It is carefully hidden so no one suspects! 😆

Ditto!

Craftybodger · 22/12/2022 18:58

Father Christmas’ wrapping paper is different to any other in this house. Kept in a different bag, hidden at the back of my present cupboard. My 2 are years into non believing, but FC still wraps in his own paper!

CinnamonStar · 22/12/2022 19:04

Yes, always plain coloured paper, but different colour for each child, and not necessarily the same colour every year.
I reroll any leftovers inside out and keep it hidden in my wardrobe (no need to spoil the magic after all!) Even though they are teens now so stopped actually believing years ago, I still act as though they do believe, and they still play along.

grumpycow1 · 22/12/2022 19:06

No but we do use the same paper for all Santa presents. And then reuse next year for other people - haven’t been busted yet 😂

Wetnovember · 22/12/2022 19:07

Santa doesn’t wrap our presents. He didn’t wrap mine as a child either!

FrightfullyFreezy · 22/12/2022 19:07

We use whatever is left from last Christmas. The present from "Santa" is only a big bar of chocolate but I try to wrap it in a more fancy way.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 22/12/2022 19:14

All the childrens presents come from FC so I have a few different designs of brown paper (with Santa's, or snowmen etc) from tkmaxx in massive rolls. I order stickers with the children's names on. Then all presents get wrapped in the different papers with a name sticker on - we stopped doing the different paper for each child. This way it takes longer for presents to be opened - as they can't just grab their own pile. They are all mixed up under the tree. None of the worry of someone else's pile looking more either. Each child takes it in turn to pull a present out and if it is theirs, open, or if not - hand it to the correct recipient. It means it takes a good 3 or 4 hours of present opening between kids and grown ups and is absolutely lovely. I much prefer it this way. It works well for us in our set up. (Three under 10 kids, 2 adults and a 20 year old).

sanityisamyth · 22/12/2022 19:16

Yes, I have for the last 8 years but I've literally just used the last piece!! I doubt I'll find the same pattern. DS is reaching the end of believing in Father Christmas though so ...

Bigtom · 22/12/2022 19:19

Santa wraps in tissue paper (nothing else ever gets wrapped in tissue paper). Unwrapping the presents is half the fun! I also used to like the way you could kind of see through the tissue paper so I could work out what some of the presents were before I opened them when my parents finally woke up!!

TheFluffiestCat · 22/12/2022 19:27

No, Santa fills stockings with unwrapped things here. I know my organisational limits.

PurplePinecone · 22/12/2022 19:29

I make sure the paper I use is different from the other papers used. But that's about it.

YourWinter · 22/12/2022 19:30

Yes. At least, until my now AC twigged, and made a point of tearing or screwing up the paper so I couldn’t smooth it out and save it.

ASCB31 · 22/12/2022 19:32

I use a Santa wrapping paper, different one for each child, tthen the next year it goes in the pile to use for anyone. So I always use different each year. I didn't want to end up relying on something that could then be discontinued!

BooksAndHooks · 22/12/2022 20:28

Yes I bought huge rolls of lovely Santa flying in the sleigh paper when studio had them. They lasted 8 years and I just ran out last year which was the last year I had believers. Even though they don’t believe I do have the back up roll which is slightly different I bought at the same time. T will be wrapped in that from now on. I kept a small piece of the original paper for each of them in the Christmas Eve basket with their letters from Father Christmas from over the years.

Murasakispillowbook · 22/12/2022 20:32

That had literally never occurred to me! To be fair FV only brings one thing and mine have never differentiated between papers but gosh, I feel like I've missed out!

My stocking are always rubbish too!

Baconand · 22/12/2022 20:40

I’m only 3 years in but am doing different paper for Father Christmas to our presents but different every year and hidden. DD is only little but very observant and keen on detail. She absolutely would notice!

caringcarer · 22/12/2022 20:40

Each child has a different colour wrapping paper. If a gift gets misplaced I know who it belongs too.

TinfoilTwat · 22/12/2022 20:43

When I was a kid Santa used different wrapping paper to us. Actually, he always used really cheap, garish bargain bin wrapping paper for some reason! Whereas my mum used lovely thick tasteful wrapping paper.

I'm not as organised as my mum, so in our house Santa uses red tissue paper which I keep hidden all year and top up each December.

usernotfound0000 · 22/12/2022 20:45

No. Santa presents are wrapped in different paper but it changes every year. I store the left over in the loft and use it a few years later when they've forgotten! Presents from us this year are wrapped in 3 years ago Santa paper.

liveforsummer · 22/12/2022 20:45

Not exactly the same but dd1 is always silver and dd2 always gold this year it's interspersed with dd1 having elf wrapping and dd2 having Xmas themed avocados. They'll know which is their big presents to open as it corresponds to the paper on the gifts in the stocking. Dc no longer believe in Santa (although we never say it out loud 😆) but it worked for all the years they did.
