How's the Christmas prep going?

I'm just enjoying a coffee, in my spot in the kitchen, watching the world through my kitchen window. The washer's on & there's clean washing to go upstairs.

I've just spent half an hour wrapping dd2's birthday presents for her 13th birthday next Weds & am slightly wondering whether there needs to be a BIG present to go with them 🤦‍♀️ (her main present is to be another praying mantis when it warms up a bit more, & she's happy with that).

My plan for the rest of the day is to hoover upstairs; wrap with the girls for their dad, nanna and grandad, nip to the shop, and clean out my fridge.

That little lot should give me time to chuck in any extras I decide on as I go.

Dd1 wants to make more mince pies - she made the pastry yesterday 😋.

First though, wash up after last night's cooked breakfast & get myself dressed.

I’m still in bed. I’ve been unwell ror a month and now developed pneumonia 😫 I am a single parent so not been able to rest but the pneumonia diagnosis kicked my sons dad into gear and he had him overnight so I could sleep.
the antibiotics seem to be working as. Do feel better! Well enough to wrap some presents!

Last morning working from home before being off for Xmas. Then collect the kids who break up at lunch time and visit Father Christmas!

Really really need to sit down and finish the online Christmas food shop at some point!

Morning! I'm just back from a weigh in at fat club and have already put on 3lbs in week - oops...

Chores today then tapas this evening with some of my fat club friends. Oh the irony!

Today I have the windows flung open upstairs and the bedsheets are in the wash. Fed up of stinky bedrooms!

Morning, I'm just getting ready to take our 4 dogs out to the beach. I've got an application to tackle that's long winded but needs done. I think I'll either wrap a couple of presents or bake something festive 🤔

Morning. A great idea for a thread! My plans for the day are to do some cleaning ( my bedroom and also, ideally the bathroom) and then brave Sainsbury's this afternoon!
Hoping this thread will give me some inspiration as I am totally lacking in motivation and the mothership arrives for Christmas on Friday!

Just having breakfast and coffee. Washing machine is on and the robot hoover is doing the rounds. DH is feeding the chickens and filling up the wild bird feeders. Quick 15 minute tidy round then will take the kids and the dog for a walk. After that lunch, and then a chilled out afternoon, maybe a Christmas film. Fish and chips for dinner, then a game with all of us. Then rinse and repeat till Christmas Eve. Been such a treat to sleep till we wake up with no alarm. All of us needed it. DC 1 and 3 are up, DC2 still asleep 😁

Working from home this morning, lunch, maybe an afternoon nap and then this evening I'm going to wrap some presents which I normally love but I'm not excited about my wrapping paper this year 😔 sounds silly but I love a nice big pile of colour coordinated nicely wrapped presents.

I turned my heating down to 16 yesterday, so I'm happy today

@Largethighsbadeyes I get the wrapping paper thing! I decided to use up the odds and ends of various rolls this year & it's not quite the same. I did buy a roll, specifically for dd's birthday gifts, that made me smile though.

@GreenLeavesRustling it is nice not to be getting up with the 6:15 alarms! Dd2 has complained that she seems to naturally wake at 9am ish though, whereas dd1 happily snoozes until midday 🤣

Work at 1pm, covering a kitchen shift finish at 11pm. I've done 16 days without a day off and I'm fantasising about handing in my notice but I need the money.

Christmas prep is not going well, I get paid on Friday so will have to get most things then. Christmas day is my only day off and I'm not really feeling full of the season. I feel shite.

Early morning drive to drop off DH's van to the mechanic, and standing by to take him to pick it up, juggling with being in for a delivery. I have had about 5 emails from the carrier this last week, saying that something cropped up to prevent delivery, and they'll do it the next day. This is a lie.
I'm also tidying today, as much as I can, with part of the house still being a building site.

DH is sawing the bone off his tomahawk steak so he can fit it into the air fryer 🙄

So, I have got as far as showering breakfasting and I'm on my first coffee of the day. I do have some chronic health issues that affect my energy levels, but even so!!!

I spent all last night wrapping presents, and I've just put them all in the car, ready for tomorrow's big drive to the Christmas location. I'm about to drive to a nice out-of-town pool and go swimming, and then I'll spend much of the rest of the day in Packing Hell, for a week away. I detest packing. I'm rubbish at it, and slow. I'm going to try to get it all done so I have time to watch the latest The Traitors tonight.

Lesson prep,no housework,call the doctor's for pain killers, change my bedding,potentially go for a gentle stroll,as sun is shining and read. Have a good day everyone🙂

No prep re Christmas food. Goin to treat myself to some nice nibbles on for the day. Christmas dinner with mate on 28th.

I’m working 12 to 4 and 6 to 11pm today. Need to hoover and just do a general tidy in between, before I start packing for my flight tomorrow. Haven’t seen most of my family since summer and I can’t wait - the forecast also says 24º!

I will also go into a few shops for some local Christmas sweets I want to bring with me. I have to order a flower delivery for a friend, but the rest of my Christmas shopping will be done tomorrow afternoon after I land. Minus my mum’s, as we’re going to the shops together.

I'm off out later for pre Christmas food and drinks with a friend.
I ordered her Christmas present ages ago and the delivery due date was yesterday. Didn't arrive. Website days it's not even shipped yet so they can't even blame royal mail 🙄

Going to do an emergency dash to the shops but put curlers in my hair this morning so going to have to wait until the last minute before popping out.

Am also going to try and pick up a turkey from Aldi while I'm out so at least that's done.

Kids are coughing and spluttering but at least I can leave them at home as DH is WFH.

No feeling very prepared this year tbh. Still got 1 more present to buy for DS2 so he has the same amount as DS1 but no idea what to get as he's only had his birthday recently.

I am snowed in at Reykjavik airport. There's a severe storm. All roads in and out are shut.

Been here 30 hours. Abandoned by my airline. No food or drinks vouchers.

All flights cancelled yesterday and today. Been here 32 hours so far.

Oh that sucks. You’d think Iceland would be prepared for a snow storm.

I’m sure you’ve exhausted all options but I’ve sometimes found hidden vouchers on the airline’s app (frequent flyer here who’s been screwed many times by the airline’s so-called customer service)…

Managed to clean the bedroom -well Roomba is finishing off the carpet. Second coffee of the day. Then it might be time to brave Sainsbury's!

I have an assignment to write over Christmas, and one to re-write because it was shit. Don't have the time or the inclination, I don't know how on earth to get motivated to do it!

This morning I've: made the bed; hoovered the lounge; rewatched a video lecture about said assignment, made notes for it, emailed the librarian to ask for help with the first one and arranged a tutorial for the first one. Now sat procrastinating rather than reading/writing because, even if I did start anything now, if it's wrong and I have to redo it after speaking to tutor I will have a full breakdown.

Heading out shortly as have an appointment for a facial, then need to nip to shops briefly on the way home. Chocolate oranges are proving disgustingly elusive this year, but I'm going to try Lidl anyway. I'd love to start wrapping but I'm not sure all of my paper will be here until Friday (stupidly ordered on Saturday, click & collect but not even had a dispatch email). Might try to wrap some main presents this evening whilst watching Lucy Worsley's Tudor Christmas.

Need to make pea soup for dinner later this afternoon too...

I'm trying really hard to get into the spirit and feel Christmassy, but it's jus tnot there this year. I'm so stressed it's making me rather miserable.

I popped into work -not working, just bringing in presents and cards that I forgot the other day. I just can't keep away!

My first day of Christmas annual leave today and the last day the house will be empty.

Have cleared out a ton of clutter, taken 2 bags to charity shop, wrapped a ton of presents and having a nice cuppa before Christmas carols at DS's school.

Bit of last minute food shopping to do. But am on this!

Working, then off to hospital for a breast check under the 2 week pathway (I'm confident it'll be fine, more a precaution than anything). Then home, more work, work some more and collapse into a heap ready for another day of work tomorrow.
