How's the Christmas prep going?

I'm just enjoying a coffee, in my spot in the kitchen, watching the world through my kitchen window. The washer's on & there's clean washing to go upstairs.

I've just spent half an hour wrapping dd2's birthday presents for her 13th birthday next Weds & am slightly wondering whether there needs to be a BIG present to go with them 🤦‍♀️ (her main present is to be another praying mantis when it warms up a bit more, & she's happy with that).

My plan for the rest of the day is to hoover upstairs; wrap with the girls for their dad, nanna and grandad, nip to the shop, and clean out my fridge.

That little lot should give me time to chuck in any extras I decide on as I go.

Dd1 wants to make more mince pies - she made the pastry yesterday 😋.

First though, wash up after last night's cooked breakfast & get myself dressed.

We went on a two hour dog walk this morning, it was very nice but very muddy, when we got back we watched the little mermaid and ate homemade pizza on the sofa.

We’re just packing now, we’re off to Sweden tomorrow until 30th (i think), so we need to decide what to take, we were going to drive so we could take the dog, but after a two hour drive yesterday with one screaming child and the other needing two toilet stops I’m very glad we opted to fly!

@PollyEsther our local little Asda had loads of choc oranges at the weekend, if that's at all helpful.

Is it just me, or is there something really depressing about the OP post?

Hi everyone!

I’ve just got home from work and the out of office has now been put on until after New Year. Yay!

Dh won’t be home for another hour ish so I’m just relaxing on the sofa and all 3 girls are upstairs (no idea what they’re doing).

Im going to have a quiet evening tonight then finish the wrapping and clean the house tomorrow.

I don’t find the OP depressing at all Spaghetti, I love Lucysmam’s threads!

Just you or would you care to elaborate why?
Most people on here love lucysmam posts myself included.

Sorry about the poster stranded at the airport. What a nightmare!
Been to the stables. Fed, watered and poo picked the ponies. Let's of them have a play in the school to let off steam and then home for lunch.

my day is spent with three poorly - and therefore grumpy - children. I’ve delivered a couple of local presents and stocked up on various medicines to last us through the next night and a half. Dh is working 8am-11pm which is insane, but then only one more smaller shift left until Xmas. I desperately need to wrap something but I’m just running out of time!

Now been offered a flight on Thursday.
So we have accepted it.

We will sleep in the airport again tonight and have found a hotel for tomorrow.

At least we will be home for Christmas

I had a busy day at work planned but went to set off an hour ago at 6.15am but we had over a foot of snow and the roads near me haven't been ploughed (Canada). buses and ferries cancelled so looks like I'm having an unexpected day off. Stay off the roads people its awful out there (South Van island)

Just finishing up a grad school assignment.

Just had my 31 week midwife appointment, found out baby is fully head-down and got to listen to the heartbeat for the first time! My iron has dipped below the threshold though, so iron tablets it is. Boo.

Other than that, I've been working today - last week before Christmas and then it's maternity leave time, thank god. Had a lovely hot chocolate earlier. Will be walking (waddling) the dog in an hour then making a lentil bolognese for dinner.

Going to finish House of the Dragon tonight, do my gel nails, chill. Will try to get some more sleep but I doubt I will as the peeing has definitely stepped up a notch and I'll be getting up at least 5 or 6 times in the night.

Back from losing the will to live in Sainsbury's! Might have bought too much booze for just me and the mothership. However ...

Ooo I missed this morning @lucysmam

We have some children at home some stil in school. I tried to spend the morning tidying ready for Christmas but with a toddler underfoot I soon gave up!

Packed us a hot picnic in food flasks and we spent most of the afternoon at the park it was sunny and lovely.

Then school run, and usual dinner bath bed routine now.

This evening I want to do some of my sewing and hopefully am early night I'm shattered!

I'm flying to the UK tomorrow and contemplating the enormity of it all. I haven't been for three years so trying to get my head around the excitement of seeing my family and friends after all this time. Spoke to my mum on the phone earlier, so weird saying "See you tomorrow!" 🥰

I thinks that’s what’s depressing about it.
