Duvet up under you chin but arms out. Find a scarf wide enough to cover shoulders to wrists (not much when in reading position). Lay scarf across self, chin to wrists.

I know. But it's taken me years. 😄

I wear a cardigan. When I was small, we had bed jackets that my gran knitted.

I’m a weirdo. I love it when my arms get freezing cold while the rest of me warms the bed up. Nothing like putting the book down and then defrosting my arms in an already warm bed.

A charity whose shop I visit got donated a shedload of American Airlines 'blankets' (really a lightweight duvet) some years back - they are the best for this - not heavy enough to get in the way, and washable if you spill your early morning tea on them.

Also good if you're a side sleeper and stick one arm out into the cold night air.

Leg warmers on your arms?
If you are a runner, you might have those arm warmer things instead already

Brilliant, who knew?! Xmas Grin Also like the array of I-didn't-know-I-needed-that-till-I-saw-it items in the "similar items" section there.

The poster who suggested fingerless gloves has me facepalming madly, though, as I have a pair of fingerless gloves I use for wfh and it's never occurred to me to bring them to bed Xmas Grin

Two duvets! One goes under your arms and up to your chin and the other over them.

I have a single and then share a king with DH. It also solves the problem of him turning over and pulling the top duvet away in the middle of the night. In Summer I push the big duvet over to his side so I can stick my legs out of the (thinner) single one. It works well!

I read my kindle lying on my side with the covers right over my head. If I'm really lucky, one of the foster kittens will get in bed with me and cuddle up against my stomach like a cute furry hot water bottle.

I'm planning to spend at least one day over the Christmas holidays mostly in bed like this, reading and only getting up for food/drink/toilet as necessary.

Anyone who doesn't have a Kindle needs one right now (obvious disclaimer about money etc, but there's so many 99p book offers that they literally pay for themselves in no time if you like reading).

You can get gloves now that work with screens. Usually a little different coloured bit on the index finger. Primark have them.

Threads like this are why I Love Mumsnet.

I have worn my fingerless gloves to bed before, but I'm liking the backwards dressing gown idea.

I use my phone as a Kindle. I'd like a real Kindle as I'm sure I'm getting RSI in my thumbs from page turning.
