Can anyone recommend some films where main characters are not good looking, or which explicitly emphasise unimportance of looks?

'Embrace' is meant to be good (I haven't watched it)

Sodie · 18/12/2022 21:34

Dumplin on netflix is seriously the best feel good film

Not a film but the tourist is great

The lead male has great chemistry with the leading lady but she isn't your normal looks wise leading lady.

It's fab.

Dumplin!

This is the one set in Australia with Jamie Dornan, not the one in Venice with Johnny Depp.

Love Hard is about someone who is catfished and when she goes to meet the guy realises he's not conventionally good looking but then learns to see past that.

Isn't that Danielle Macdonald who is also in Dumplin?

Shallow Hal!

I came on here to say Shallow Hal. It might not maybe be what the op means but it's a fab film nonetheless

Eighth Grade is really good, teen movie about learning to accept who you are.

The DUFF

Bit old fashioned but I like Muriel's wedding

YolayCaprese · 18/12/2022 22:40

I haven't watched it for a while but Booksmart was all about friendship and high school. I think.
