I just had some letters and parcels delivered by my postie.
Is this something that is happening nationally ? It is Sunday right?

Me too

Starlitexpress · 18/12/2022 13:52

They always deliver December, at least they have where I am!

SpinningFloppa · 18/12/2022 13:53

Nope, nothing here waiting for a bank card I ordered on Monday 😑

FeebasAquarium · 18/12/2022 13:53

Yep we just had a parcel

Clarinet1 · 18/12/2022 13:54

Well we haven’t had any deliveries for about a week but, going on previous years, I think a Sunday delivery just before Christmas does sometimes happen.

GreenLadybug · 18/12/2022 13:54

Sunday deliveries of parcels is all year round, at the minute there are also plenty cards / letters to be delivered too, makes sense if they got the staff available and willing

ChessieFL · 18/12/2022 13:55

I think they’re using Sundays to catch up from strikes too. We had the odd Sunday delivery in November.

Chatterboxy · 18/12/2022 13:58

Me too!

LadyShort · 18/12/2022 13:59

They have also asked for friends and family of RM workers to help with deliveries, so they can 'deliver Christmas',so maybe it's them delivering on their time off from their other jobs!

DogInATent · 18/12/2022 14:33

They've been doing Sunday deliveries for 24/48hr Tracked items for a while now.

LondonJax · 18/12/2022 14:34

There's always Sunday deliveries on the Sunday before Christmas.

I hope they’re being paid?

AnnListersBlister · 18/12/2022 14:35

I'm still waiting for something that was due for delivery on the 2nd 😡

Suedomin · 18/12/2022 14:36

They has always been a delivery on the last Sunday before Christmas.

TheOGCCL · 18/12/2022 14:38

I’ve had a few things on Sundays, some weeks only Sundays 🤷‍♀️

Similar here. For the last month or so, we've only had a weekly post on a Sunday with everything coming then.

FlamingJingleBells · 18/12/2022 14:42

They're processing through the backlog caused by the national strikes and delivering in Sundays to catch up before Christmas.

OooScotland · 18/12/2022 14:43

Yes, Every year in December a lot of things come on a Sunday. I’ve had deliveries on most strike days too until the last couple of weeks 🤷🏻‍♀️

ImperfectAlf · 18/12/2022 14:44

No RM delivery here for a week. The delivery office is closed too, so can't collect.

Does make you wonder what day it is, though. 😁

tigger1001 · 18/12/2022 14:47

I saw the postie in his van in our street earlier - I did a double take and checked the day

gamerchick · 18/12/2022 14:48

Us as well. Pile of letters yesterday, some dated end of November and parcels today.

katseyes7 · 18/12/2022 15:03

I've had a couple of parcels this week, but only one letter/Christmas card.
I've been told by a few people that RM staff have been told to prioritise parcels over letters.
And that a postal worker was told off for 'sorting out NHS letters' when they should have been sorting parcels. I appreciate no one 'needs' Christmas cards, but l'd have hoped that anything clearly marked NHS could be processed.

Jmaho · 18/12/2022 15:06

Yes my long awaited Shein delivery gas finally arrived! Christmas is saved!
We have never had Royal Mail deliveries on a Saturday or Sunday before even close to Xmas

I’m still waiting for a tracked item that was due 30th November!

I’ve had other mail but stuff from the early strike days seems to be stuck at the bottom of the sorting piles. Poor DS is going to be missing half his gifts by the looks of it.

PeekAtYou · 18/12/2022 15:29

I didn't know about Sunday deliveries near Christmas- I thought RM was strictly Mon-Sat.
I know that couriers deliver on Sundays but I hope that the posties are paid extra if they do extra days in December
