Can someone advise when lockdown was issued in December 2021?

And when it was lifted?

I’ve tried to look at the government timetable but it doesn’t say.

Thank you

I don’t think there was one in Dec 21

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 15/12/2022 10:21

It was just before NYE I think

chipsandpeas · 15/12/2022 10:22

i dont think there was an offical one - omnicrom was kicking about and i think it was just a general stay at home if you can
i know my work went back to working from home from mid dec to mid jan - was originally just for the 2 week xmas period but it got extended by a week either side

Lindy2 · 15/12/2022 10:22

December 2020 was lockdown for some areas. The country was in tiers and we were tier 4 and locked down just before Christmas.

December 2021 was relatively normal but with warnings to open windows, do tests etc especially if mixing with vulnerable people.

I remember us all doing daily lateral flows but having family around.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/12/2022 10:23

Wasn't it a work at home if you can thing? Honestly, it's a horrible blur of COVID years that have smooshed together in my mind.

AnyFucker · 15/12/2022 10:23

I think you are getting mixed up with Dec 2020

dementedpixie · 15/12/2022 10:26

Was it not a rule of 6 or something? I know you still had to isolate if 1 person in the family got covid as dh had it last December and we had to isolate over new Year. Think that rule changed in the January to just the person with covid having to isolate.

Oh yes!!
December 2021 was no lockdown.

dementedpixie · 15/12/2022 10:33

Although I'm in Scotland and I think our restrictions lasted longer then those in England

dementedpixie · 15/12/2022 10:35

The Scottish children still had to wear a face covering in schools in January this year!

monsteronahill · 15/12/2022 10:37

Dec 2021 was still masks in some places (churches etc) and planes, travel was for jabbed only, some restaurants limited table bookings, masks in hairdressers and other beauty places too. I don't think a proper lockdown was "issued" in December 2021 though.

Merrow · 15/12/2022 10:39

Yeah Omicron was around and there was panic about a lockdown but (in England at least) it was just work from home if you can, think about if you really need to do social mixing.

user53852098 · 15/12/2022 10:40

December 2020 was tiers wasn't it, no lockdown in December 2021, DS was meant to visit at Christmas but he tested positive so couldn't, there was a lot about being careful and getting your booster

TheYearOfSmallThings · 15/12/2022 10:44

It wasn't a real lockdown last time, just "If you can".

God it seems like more than a year ago! It feels very distant and unreal.

Sprogonthetyne · 15/12/2022 11:08

We didn't go into full lockdown until the day the kids went back to school, which was ridiculous as it allowed much more spread then if the decision was a day earlier.

Restrictions did ramp up in the run up to Christmas though, with areas going into level 3 and within a few day we went down from 5 days of been allowed to mix to just one day and no overnight stays.

I’m not, there was definitely something - I just think it’s like people said it wasn’t official.

There was no lockdown, just a lot of work from home if you can guidance.

Schools were definitely still open.

People were cancelling xmas parties left right and centre as worried about uptick in cases but there was no lockdown, it was all choice.

Wiaa · 15/12/2022 11:30

I went to an event this time last year and there were no restrictions and we went to a packed bar after. As far as I recall we were asked to lft on the morning but this was just from the organisation. I believe we started using COVID passports around December and there was a work from home if you can guideline.

SirMingeALot · 15/12/2022 11:49

Do you mean the reintroduction of mask rules? That was Drc 21.

tearsbeingwashedaway · 15/12/2022 11:53

Does anyone remember when the work from home guidance stopped? I remember going to the belated office party in early February.

The announcement was made around 8th December 2021. I've just checked in my emails because there was a particular change to some appointments I was having becoming remote due to it and the email sent on the 9th refers to "next week".
