Can someone advise when lockdown was issued in December 2021?

And when it was lifted?

I’ve tried to look at the government timetable but it doesn’t say.

Thank you

Our posts crossed - it stopped shortly after Xmas as far as I remembered, so would have been in January.

TimeForMeToF1y · 15/12/2022 12:10

I had to look this up for something at work, there was no lockdown

I went out with a group for a Christmas meal this week last year and there were no noticeable restrictions, I remember the pub being totally normal although one person didnt turn up as their child had covid

Ilovetocrochet · 15/12/2022 12:16

My sister was able to travel from the US to spend Christmas with me, tests still needed in order to fly but no restrictions on family gatherings or anything. She was not able to come here in Dec 2020 though. We went to several pubs and Christmas events with no restrictions but there were still limits on how many of us could visit mum at her care home.

There wasn't a "lockdown" in 2021. Mask wearing and vaccination passes were mandatory in certain settings but no "lockdown".

EmmaAgain22 · 15/12/2022 12:37

Having cleared the gaslighting from my brain....yes, there wasn't a lockdown, I think London was being threatened with it but we went to neighbours on Xmas Day.

I was watching Triggernometry to keep sane but felt like shouting a key line, which I won't quote here, every time I got on the Tube.

and now here we are in Hooverville, just as many of us said in March 2020.

OtleyRunning · 15/12/2022 12:38

There wasn't one, we'd been in the office since the spring and had a staff Christmas meal this time last year.

SirMingeALot · 15/12/2022 13:13

There were some of the usual suspects trying to get one OP, you may mean that? Indy SAGE and their 'circuit breaker' shit for example.

ProtectorExtraordinaryOfTheCantonsOfNim · 15/12/2022 13:21

We moved to Plan B "work from home if you can" from 13 December: see <a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20211212030917/www.gov.uk/coronavirus" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">archived government page

Plan B was lifted from 27 January: see update here

tearsbeingwashedaway · 15/12/2022 14:26

Yeah it was definitely work from home guidance as I was brand new to my job and shitting it having to be isolated and having my learning impacted - which it was severely.

Hope the information others have given helps. I cannot recall the date.

Whatever they were, the then Prime Minister and his staff in Downing Street were not following it.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/12/2022 17:50

It kicked off on 13th December 2021.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/12/2022 17:52

And I'm sure Schools went back late after Christmas...

Firstbornunicorn · 15/12/2022 17:57

DD was born on 7th December last year and I’m pretty sure they changed the rules around visitors that same day or the next day. Either way, DH wasn’t even allowed to come into the hospital to pick me up when we were discharged on the 9th.
It was a very long winter.

Haveahappyholiday · 15/12/2022 18:00

There were definitely restrictions reintroduced in Wales as I was in a group which cancelled a Christmas get together and I remember all nightclubs were closed from Boxing Day.

Buzzinwithbez · 15/12/2022 18:05

There was a lockdown but they pretended there wasn't one by referring to it as tiers.
We were allowed to see people for 3 days over Christmas. The next tier wasn't allowed to use their friends or family at all. I think London was included in this and there was an exodus before it came into effect. Some tiers weren't affected.

That was 2020. I did assume OP had the year wrong initially, but apparently not.

primeoflife · 15/12/2022 18:09

No major restrictions as I went to a big Christmas party (where dh then caught covid)

There was talk of a lockdown happening but it didn't actual occur. Some companies may have been work from home but in the real world we were all cracking on.

asblindasabat · 15/12/2022 18:11

I don’t think we were in lockdown in December 2021? I think they had possibly closed night clubs again, brought in mandatory covid certificates for bars and stuff and brought in the rule of 6 at restaurants and cafes etc. I think they may also have brought in guidance that stated you should only mix with no more than 2 or 3 households, but I don’t think that was a law, think it was just strong guidance.

but don’t think there was strict lockdown. Pretty sure we had a lockdown again in December 2020

You're right. It just shows how confusing time has become!

Thinking about it we went to the cinema to see the Spiderman movie. They also brought in briefly vaccine passports via the NHS app..I remember showing the usual negative test text and being told it was supposed to be on a qr code within the app now.
