a white Christmas. I don't mean ice on the ground from previous snow I mean snow actually falling on Christmas Day. I was born 1975 I'm from the UK and as far as I can remember I've never known one.

iklboo · 14/12/2022 21:36

Yes, Manchester 2010. DS was 5 and it was great for him.

VoluptuaGoodshag · 14/12/2022 21:37

2004 - really thick snow!

Beginningless · 14/12/2022 21:38

Yes a few in Scotland but not for a few yrs that I can remember.

SaveMeCheezus · 14/12/2022 21:38

Yes but I was on a ski holiday so I suppose it doesn't really count.

BackInTheDales · 14/12/2022 21:38

No, not in the uk. Would love a proper Christmas with snow falling. Have had a few abroad though but it's not the same.

Thedoglovesmemore · 14/12/2022 21:38

Yes heavy snow fell in the Xmas afternoon in 2004

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/12/2022 21:39

Wow these are very interesting as both are in the UK. I'm miles away from Cumbria but I'm not far at all from Manchester (Liverpool). Therefore we must have had snow too. Yet I have no recollection.

I think around 1968 in the south *old gimmer alert

DowntonCrabby · 14/12/2022 21:42

Yes, at least 10 I think but I’m in the north of Scotland.

Underroad · 14/12/2022 22:12

2010 in the north west. It wasn’t a massive amount but there was enough to make a little snowman. Apparently there was a while Christmas when I was very little too so probably late 70s. Some of my friends in various parts of Yorkshire have had a couple of white christmases in recent years (but this never happened during the 15 years I lived there - it always snowed between Christmas and new year but never in Christmas Day lr Christmas Eve. I feel cheated).

VoluptuaGoodshag · 15/12/2022 08:55

My best Xmas was when the kids were little. It was a proper white Xmas here in Angus. We opened our pressies then went for a wee walk to meet with friends on the local sledging hill. We drank mulled wine from a flask, the kids had hot Ribena. We sledged and skied and it was magical.

Wetblanket78 · 22/12/2022 01:16

I'm sure it was 96. I remember going to see a friend on Christmas eve she was pregnant. When I set off to walk home there was a few inches of snow. But that's the only one I remember.

Stormtrooper45 · 22/12/2022 01:35

Yes, but I’m in Scotland.

lurchermummy · 22/12/2022 01:39

2010 it was heavy snow and definitely snowed Christmas Eve - can't remember if it actually snowed Christmas Day or not (Cotswolds)

stayathomegardener · 22/12/2022 01:43

Christmas Eve 2006ish in Cheshire, heavy snow with huge flakes. Absolutely magical.

FictionalCharacter · 22/12/2022 01:53

Yes, in the 60s and maybe early 70s in England. In Scotland in the 90s.

Ihavenodesiretobequotedinthepaperthankyouvmuch · 22/12/2022 02:27

1967 or 1968. I walked to midnight mass.

DuchessDandelion · 22/12/2022 02:30

Yes. In the Midlands, somewhere between 2006 & 2009 I think.

thaegumathteth · 22/12/2022 02:30

Yes the highlands.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 22/12/2022 02:44

Yes. But I’ve been living in Canada for the last 11 years.

Allmarbleslost · 22/12/2022 03:47

I remember one in my childhood. I couldn't tell you what year - late 80s/early 90s I guess.
