Just ate a whole box of chocolates

Ironic given my current username. It was a Hotel Chocolat box, sent as a gift in the post. I am on a health kick at the moment and otherwise would not have had them in the house. I caved and ended up eating them all. 155g. Now feel sick. In my defence I have Covid (3rd time this year) and am feeling bored and fed up. I have also eaten veg today, so that's something I suppose.

Please share your similar episodes to make me feel better.

The chocolate spread and chicken curry were separate I would like to add . I like chocolate spread but not that much

Dingalingo · 14/12/2022 20:02

I ate Nutella from the jar today with a knife. Then had a Lindt ball for some reason. Felt sick.

dolor · 14/12/2022 20:03

Pffft I've done similar. Didn't care. Will do it again. [Grin]

I made a chocolate madras once. Same spices but just added a dessert spoon of dark chocolate cocoa. It was LUSH.

One year I worked my way through my Celebrations advent calendar on about day 7 .... polished off the lot. I then guiltily and covertly bought a 380g carton of them (just googled the size) to replace the remaining ones and try to shut the doors properly. Except that the chocolate craving was so strong that I polished off the lot before I got home, and had to go back out for more. 😳

You have to eat the whole box before the free calories run out. Free calories come about when:
(i) the box has been opened first time - you then have a day to consume the contents. Next day full calories resume
(ii) you are ill - calories are not absorbed in the same way (at all) and so are free
(iii) it is December. No December calories count - this extends to 3rd Janaury
(iv) You are having a crappy day at work - stress negates calories

Those are the rules. You must not break the rules.

These are the best rules ever Grin

I bought myself a 1kg container of Quality Street as a birthday treat. I haven't had them for decades, but they caught my eye in the supermarket, and I remembered I used to love them when they were made by Mackintosh.

They are now made my Nestle and were truly, truly awful. However, I persevered until I felt nauseous and realised if I just put them into the bin I would probably fish them out later (on the theory that the wrapping and plastic container would keep them clean) and continue gobbling. Desperate times! I was making beef stock, so I skimmed it and put all the fat, etc on the top of the chocolates in the hope it would deter me. It worked, thankfully.

I’m eating 4 mince pies a day at the moment. Can’t seem to stop myself. I ration it so I have two as snacks and then two for pudding after dinner but it’s only a matter of time before I lose control and eat two for breakfast as well.

Outstanding chocolate sabotage strategy. Really impressed.

I remember when Hotel Chocolat's marketing included the "fact" that it was an aid to weight loss because it was such good quality that just two chocolates, at 60 calories apiece, was a perfectly acceptable and satisfying substitute for pudding after your massive salad.

Mwahahahahahahaha! Don't stop 'til you pop.

Ridingthegravytrain · 14/12/2022 15:13

Yes! But my favourite is the new caramel one tastes like a giant caramac

Oh my goodness,
this actually exists!
you have made my christmas😁

OP, given you’re ill I think you can be excused, I’m currently munching my way through a box of matchmakers, I don’t think there will be any left by bedtime.

I love these sort of threads that make me giggle!

I work in a place where we get Christmas presents of biscuits and chocolates from customers and all the staff agree that having these gifts with coffee doesn't count the same way as regular snacking does. We need the calories to perform at our best in the cold weather.

I am now fantasising about this:

I may have eaten ¾ of a large jar of Nutella with a spoon before, and then gone to the shop binning the empty jar on the way and eating ¼ of the new jar before our next pancake brunch so it would go undetected.

I’m not normally so coy and happily put away sharing bags of Galaxy Counters and the like of an evening.

pinneddownbytabbies · 14/12/2022 20:26

A few days ago DH was going shopping and I asked him to get a tin of Quality Street. When he returned home, I tipped the whole lot in a nice glass bowl, as they look so pretty and festive.

The bowl is sitting on the coffee table beside my chair. It is now empty.
😊

ThatshallotBaby · 14/12/2022 20:33

@KaleToChristmas
That is truly magnificent

pinneddownbytabbies · 14/12/2022 20:37

I am now being inundated with a deluge of Hotel Chocolat adverts popping up all over the place Xmas Grin

ChickyNuggies · 14/12/2022 20:39

I ate quite a large Cadbury chocolate Santa at 930am this morning. Then I felt very sick. Then I had a three course Christmas lunch.

Then I went home and tried on my Christmas night out outfit for this weekend and decided I am a disgusting fat blob.

So I had a huge bowl of cocopops too.
