Tiny mouse just ran in house and into my kitchen

I just opened my front door to let our cat in and a tiny mouse ran in and seems to have vanished in the kitchen.
Stressed out is a understatement.

What should I do?
Thanks

I imagine the cat will be even more determined to find it than you! Is it on the hunt?

Panic!

Did the cat drop it? Does it hunt?

GridRock · 13/12/2022 23:05

You have a cat, surely it will get it? My cats are ferocious mousers.

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 13/12/2022 23:05

Put the cat in the kitchen. Shut the kitchen door. Go to bed. Brace yourself for mouse death scene in the morning

afaloren · 13/12/2022 23:06

Won’t the cat get it? Don’t panic.

avamiah · 13/12/2022 23:09

I have closed the kitchen door and the cat is sitting outside it .🫣

Yes he will as he has caught many before from the garden but I haven’t had one inside before .It must be because of the snow we have had and it hasn’t melted yet in the garden .
I feel terrible letting him into the kitchen as it was tiny but what can I do.😳

I am going to now as I have no other choice but I doubt I will sleep that well .
I know it’s only a mouse but I can’t have it running around my house .

Yes he will but what if he doesn’t?😳

My cat is now sitting on my kitchen bench under the table next to the radiator and doesn’t look at all interested in looking for the mouse.🫣🫣

My cat just dropped off a live and very active mouse in my hallway which immediately made a run for the shoe pile. Luckily a bowl, some cardboard and help from the bloody cat that brought it home and I caught it and released it outside. I once had one live under my fridge for a few days. Cats are a nightmare at times!

avamiah · 13/12/2022 23:46

@Biscuitandacuppa
Thanks for letting me know about the mouse that lived under your fridge for a few days, I’ll sleep well tonight .

Shut your cat in the kitchen all night.
Seriously.

avamiah · 13/12/2022 23:50

@misssunshine4040 ,
He is in there but not doing much at the moment which is unlike him.

Once the lights are are out and some time has passed, the mouse may assume it's safe or and draw attention to itself or the cat will smell it and go looking.
They do it for fun so your cat is probably not fussed at the moment but will be when it's 3am and he hears a squeak or some rustling

avamiah · 13/12/2022 23:59

@misssunshine4040 ,
I have a small gap under my kitchen door which I’m worried about.

Watch out because he'll have all his mousey mates in before you know it.

AlwaysFullOfQuestions22 · 14/12/2022 00:05

Block it with a rolled up towel

Stuff a throw or blanket under the door and block the gap
