Waitrose "it's on us"

Just curious about the Waitrose "it's on us" initiative.. a few times I've been in (always with my daughter so I think she's the lucky charm!) the cashier has given us something for free.. we've had flowers, a gingerbread man and some chocolates.

It's a little thing but it does really put a smile on my face Grin

Does anyone on here work at Waitrose? How do you pick and is there a monetary limit on how much you can give away?

Has anyone else had some nice freebies?

So funny this thread has been revived - I had one on the deli counter the other day (well kind of).. was tempted by some gorgeous looking olives, asked for a few scoops so he put them on the scales and printed off the price sticker.. then put a few more scoops on and said have them on me Grin

This was also the first time I have got something without the "cute" daughter...

Although if I'm being cynical it was a HUGE bowl of olives on display so maybe he was trying to get rid of them before the end of the day...

Regular shopper, had it 3 times. First was buying some reduced flowers with DH present and laughingly said "we've been married so long I don't get full priced ones anymore". The cashier overheard laughed and gifted them.
Second was some fresh tuna, had two thin slices cut off but when he weighed them the shock on my face at the price must have caused him to gift it.
Third was 3 weeks ago. Told a partner they were displaying out of date desserts. She thanked me profusely then came running up with a lovely bunch of 💐. They are still going strong.

During Covid lockdown number one when everyone was terrified to shop, our local M&S gave away bouquets to shoppers. It was such a lovely thing to do during such a horrible time.
