Have I ordered enough pizza?

Am panicking.

I have ordered 2 X Extra Large and 1 X Large from Dominos.

17 children aged 10. Only 15 minutes to eat. Not their main meal. Just a fun swim and a pizza sort of thing.

I think you need one more large

Lilly11a · 08/12/2022 09:18

That's about 2 slices each ? I d up it by a third so 3 extra large and a large . Boys that age can have hollow legs

tattychicken · 08/12/2022 09:18

Yep I agree, one more large.

FinalPushh · 08/12/2022 09:19

I would get another XL one too

Wilkolampshade · 08/12/2022 09:20

Yeah, 1 more XL and another large.

CheeseandGherkins · 08/12/2022 09:32

So dominoes does sizes in personal, small, medium and large. A large is 10 slices and medium is 8. That wouldn't even be 2 slices each so I would definitely get another large but it may well work out better to just get all large and not medium at all.

Hoppinggreen · 08/12/2022 09:33

They will probably want 2-3 slices each so base it on thatv

SalviaOfficinalis · 08/12/2022 09:34

Where in the world are you that domino’s do XL?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 08/12/2022 09:34

Kids are always starving after swimming so I'd get a couple more. Cold pizza for breakfast is fab ..... IF there is any left over!

LostAtTheCrossRoad · 08/12/2022 09:34

I'd double it, and do 4 XLs for safety. You can always take any leftovers home.

I agree. It's better to have leftovers* than worrying there isn't enough to go round.

*Although I doubt there will be any leftovers. They'll eat more than you expect.

BarbaraofSeville · 08/12/2022 09:39

Isn't it usually on buy one get one free at Dominos, or X% if you spend so much, so a 4th pizza might not cost much more, if anything?

If it's just a snack, could you ask them to cut it into more than normal slices as a normal slice of an XL pizza might be more than some of them want, but if the slices are a bit smaller they can choose to have 1/2/3 slices?

determinedtomakethiswork · 08/12/2022 09:39

I'm afraid I don't think that's enough at all. They can eat loads in 15 minutes!

Good question. Definitely need more in my opinion.

hashbrownsandwich · 08/12/2022 09:42

I would have at least 6 large pizzas (or extra large if that is Infact a thing).

OldTinHat · 08/12/2022 09:47

Probably not. I remember ordering six large plus sides for my 16yr old and eight of his friends, hoping I'd get a slice. Fat chance, whole lot vanished in five minutes!

HellsBells87 · 08/12/2022 09:47

I don't think that's enough at all for 17 kids. I think you'd need at least 5 or 6 large or xl.

AriettyHomily · 08/12/2022 09:49

We did Papa Johns for DDs 7th birthday, ten guests. 6 large plus sides (chicken poppers and wedges) and it was all eaten.

You definitely need more, a lot more.

Ihatethenewlook · 08/12/2022 09:50

Nowhere near enough imo! We’re a family of 5 and my 3 children are only small, and we’ll do in 2 large pizzas in under 10 mins. And no we’re not fat and generally not greedy! I’d double that easily x

I was thinking the same about sides. I don’t think the op could get away with anything less than at least 6 pizzas but even that isn’t enough imo. But domino’s is bloody expensive, sides included. I wonder if some cheap chippy chips could be added if the op is on a budget?

Beees · 08/12/2022 09:53

We don't get XL as a option here so I'm quite envious of you but a rough guide would be 3 or 4 slices each, all the 10 year olds I know have hollow legs.

You currently have:
XL - 12 slices
XL - 12 slices
L - 10 slices

So 34 slices between 17 kids.

That's no where near enough and I'd wager you'd need at least 2 or 3 more pizzas minimum. Even then I'd be surprised if you had any lef overs.

There’s also a chance it could end up very unfair as some children eat so much faster than others. I’m an extremely slow eater and I’ll still be on my first slice while my family are starting their 3rd. Unless the op is willing to stand at the table and tell children off for taking more than 2 slices, then there will be at least a few children stuck with just the one slice while the others have devoured the rest of the entire boxes.

CaramelizedNuts · 08/12/2022 11:28

No way enough. I had two large for 8 girls in the summer. Same age.

They all took 3 slices from the off and stuffed themselves. I felt awful for not getting more!

TokyoSushi · 08/12/2022 11:31

Agree that you definitely need about 50 slices, so quite a bit more!
