Where have all the hangover cures gone?

In September I went to a birthday party and drank so much I thought I was dying. A friend called by the house and brought me a tesco version of "resolve" - a combination of rehydration salts/antacid and paracetamol in one fizzy slightly unpleasant tasting drink
Anyway I am trying to buy this now and I can't find any.
No alka seltzer
No Resolve
No supermarket/chemist own brand
Have they been discontinued? what's going on?

No one gets drunk anymore

No one gets drunk anymore

Or, everyone gets so drunk they’ve sold out?

Anyway, you don’t need those. You need a full fat coke, then a sausage sandwich, then a beer and a shag

Celestiel · 06/12/2022 15:02

I've bought those rehydration sports drinks and dioralyte, lemonade and chicken soup!

One drink and my sleep is messed up for days 😕

stopbeeping · 06/12/2022 15:03

I know I'll get slammed for this

But I take an anti sickness tablet
I've always got them in the house on script for other reasons but you can buy them often sold as sleeping aids basically an anti histamine the ones that do make you drowsy like Dipenhydramine
Paracetamol before going to bed
Water
Eat shit lay on the sofa and hate myself whilst wondering if I said anything to embarrass myself
Been ages since I've had a hangover but the anti sickness makes a huge difference it's the nausea that kills me

Alka seltzer in stock nearest x4 boots by us.

Do a check stock search online

HeyMicky · 06/12/2022 15:09

SOS rehydration sachets online

And also Survivor capsules - I thought they were bollocks but I've been using them during big nights out and they've significantly impacted how I feel the next day

BrandNewBicep · 06/12/2022 16:29

I've not seen Resolve for years. Looked for the Tesco one last week and no where to be seen. Thankfully had no need for them this year, but like to have it in, just in case.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 06/12/2022 16:51

I thought this thread was going to be about all those newspaper and magazine articles there used to be at this time of year, going through all different hangover cures (raw eggs, chilli sauce etc) before telling us the best hangover cure is not to get drunk in the first place.

I suppose journalists are too busy going running and eating alfalfa sprouts these days to bother with hard drinking. How disappointing.

Irn bru

Used to be amazing but now they put sweetener in it and it’s a completely different drink!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/12/2022 16:56

Bacon sandwich and a Lucozade.

Add a couple of paracetamol and you'll regain a semblance of humanity sooner than any 'proper' remedy.

toycat · 06/12/2022 17:03

There's lots of Alka seltzer here - try corner shops?

Failing that, sprite and salt and vinegar crisps**

TicTacFrenzy · 06/12/2022 17:12

Theres a shortage of rehydration stuff everywhere. (Work in a related industry) generally a pack of six will come in and its snapped up within the day.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 06/12/2022 17:15

Maybe trading standards have seem them off as the only hangover cure that actually works is a Morrison's All Day fry up (other supermarket fry ups may also have healing effects).

AriettyHomily · 06/12/2022 17:17

Can of normal coke, ice cold, sausage McMuffin, job done.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 06/12/2022 17:41

Get some Milk Thistle from Holland and Barret. Take two before bed after a drink. Magic.

Dartmoorcheffy · 06/12/2022 17:42

Berroca. Its miracle cure and available in all supermarkets

potkettleblock · 06/12/2022 17:47

I found Alka Seltzer in Poundland at the weekend, first time I’ve seen it anywhere for months!

KILM · 06/12/2022 17:49

Just to say im glad this thread is supportive and not full of shitty comments about you getting drunk!

I've tried the rehydration sachet things and i'd rather the lucozade/sports drinks. And a cold and flu tablet!

MajorCarolDanvers · 06/12/2022 17:54

Irn Bru and a couple of paracetamol is all you ever need for a hangover

I am nodding in total agreement. The only way to cure the affliction is to eat copious amounts of carby rubbish whilst trying to block out the mental images of doing a lone dance routine to Bananarama (full routine) and the absolute shite talk. No night out is complete without me talking shite. Wait for DC to go to bed and order a takeaway curry. Go to bed, lie there and feel the fear take over your body. You’ll be right as rain in a day or two.

Mojoj · 06/12/2022 17:58

Irn bru, roll and square slice with tattie scone and brown sauce. More Irn Bru. Paracetamol. Netflix and comfy couch. And no weans - this part is very important!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nyedilemma · 06/12/2022 17:59

I've just bought a massive pack of Resolve on Amazon

Resolve with ibuprofen before bed. More Resolve in the morning and a run.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 06/12/2022 18:00

Oooo that sounds lovely mojoj I’m assuming you’re in Scotland? It looks so beautiful, I’d move there tomorrow if I could.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 06/12/2022 18:01

A run nye?! A run?! What is this witchcraft?
