PIP - has anyone had this text after assessment?

My phone assessment was 18 November. Got a text 2 days later from DWP to say they’d recevied it and they’ll write back when they’d made a decision - probably within 8 weeks.

this morning I got a text saying they had not yet made a decision on my claim and would write when they have.

Does anyone know if this is usual. Is it a good/bad sign or is it just that they’re probably working through a backlog? TIA

Yes, many individuals have received various texts or communications after undergoing a PIP assessment. The specific content of these texts can vary depending on the outcome of the assessment and the actions taken by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

I have recently had a PIP assessment over the phone the lady was lovely but I felt like I couldn’t answer all of the questions properely which is going to affect my decision aswel I’m so stressed about this a week tomorrow I recieved a text to say they had not made a decision yet ,such a stressful anxious time 😭

Suboptimalsitch · 03/07/2023 10:10

Mamto5. That’s exactly how I felt. The assessor didn’t give me time to properly answer her questions and I couldn’t really describe the problems I have in detail. The interview went on over an hour but I came away thinking I would definitely be turned down. I was very surprised to be given the standard rate. I hope you get a good outcome too. It’s very stressful, both the assessment and waiting for their decision.

I had my telephone assessment today 26th September, with Eloise, she was lovely, and said anytime I needed a break just to say so, half way through I actually broke down, had panic attack and anxiety, shaking and crying, she spoke to me gently and stayed with me on the phone just talking to me about nothing really to calm me down. The call lasted for 1 hr and 45 mins, as my health has got worse since I made the original claim, bit they had been in touch with doctors, consultants etc, aswell before calling me. I can honestly say Eloise was absolutely amazing, and she wished me well at end of call, she said she was sending the report as soon as the call finished, at 5.17pm today 26th September, dwp text me to say they had received my assessment report and will be in touch soon. Has anyone had a quick response from assessment to text to receiving payment and how long please

Starrrz · 16/12/2023 17:53

@Suboptimalsitch do you work ? I work and have applied but only work 18 hrs due to my fatigue.
its been nearly 4 weeks x

Suboptimalsitch · 16/12/2023 18:08

Starrz. I haven’t worked for over 10 years. I applied for PIP about 6 years ago but was turned down and felt so unwell I didn’t appeal. I’ve got much worse over the years and had far more diagnoses and letters from specialists to submit so I tried again last year and got the standard rate which is a real help. I’m crossing my fingers your get awarded it . A friend has been waiting 8 months and still hasn’t heard apart from saying they have her application. When she phoned to check (she was wondering it had got lost), she was told the backlog is really big.

@Suboptimalsitch im so sorry to hear that :( thats awful they turned you down :( im glad you finally got it but you should get enhanced especially when your unable to work.
thankyou, i hope i do too! life is just a huge struggle!
ill just keep waiting, i wont hold my breathe.
i have lost6 weeks of work due to my conditions. Having to have people look after my baby makes me feel like the shittest mother on the planet. If i work for 6 hrs one day( with being allowed to sit when i have too) the next day im knocked out! It sucks help should be alot easier! Xx

Suboptimalsitch · 16/12/2023 18:23

It must be extra hard when you have a little one to look after too. It doesn’t make you a shit parent. I really hope you get awarded it. Benefits are for those who need them but I know people who have absolutely chosen not to work and get UC, housing benefit, council tax paid, got extra fuel allowances etc. This is the only benefit I’ve ever claimed and as you say, it’s such a sodding battle. Good luck 🤞🏼

Tattyxted · 05/02/2024 09:42

Hi, yes I got awarded pip, I only got the lower standard daily rate, although they did back date it also. I also got LWCRA and that was also backdated too. I also work, but have gone to working 24 hours a week now instead of 60 hours that I used to work

Starrrz · 05/02/2024 10:13
