.........ate my favourite choc, a Twirl. It tasted not right at all! Very disappointing.
DCs agreed.
So far, the Creme Egg and Wispa ones taste the same.

What the bejeebers is going on?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/12/2022 20:08

We had some and they tasted of soap.

BaconAndAvocado · 03/12/2022 20:16

Yes! Soap!

itsthelittlethinggs · 03/12/2022 20:18

We got two twirls that were full size 😅 but I don’t like the twisted ones they take like soap

ilovebagpuss · 03/12/2022 20:19

Palm oil probably, it ruins everything

StickyCricket · 03/12/2022 20:20

Yep it’s the palm oil.

TheDouglasChater · 03/12/2022 20:20

Yup. All the Christmas chocolates are the same now, unfortunately.

Not only have the tubs shrunk over time, now they taste like shite.

Boooooot · 03/12/2022 20:21

Overly sweet too. I noticed this when pinching the kids eater eggs this year. I’m a fat pig but even I couldn’t force it down it was so overly sweet.

ShirleyPhallus · 03/12/2022 20:21

Palm oil. But I’ve yet to find chocolate that tastes like proper old school Cadbury’s.

people wang on about Lidl and Aldi being the best but it doesn’t taste right. Tony’s chocoloney needs a second mortgage and comes out in uneven chunks leaving crumbs everywhere and still doesn’t taste right. It almost all tastes too milky and not properly rich enough if that makes sense.

VerifiedBot2351 · 03/12/2022 20:22

Yes I’ve had full size twirls when expecting fun size. Miss disappointing.

TheRookie · 03/12/2022 20:26

My advent calendar was a twirl yesterday and it really was rank.

AsdaYellowTins · 03/12/2022 20:30

I miss proper cadburys chocolate, it was so nice.
The americans have f#@£$d it right up.
Nasty palm oil, oversweet, icky.
Why would they do that to us?

AsdaYellowTins · 03/12/2022 20:32

Perhaps someone who used to work for cadburys who knows what the mix was, could set up their own new brand, with the right mix of milk and sugar - they would make a fortune. Call it a glass and a half and we would all know what it was.😁

BaconAndAvocado · 03/12/2022 20:33

Yes to Tony’s Chocolonely needing a mortgage!
Need to go back and try Aldi Möser Roth milk chocolate again, it used to be delicious.

ImAvingOops · 03/12/2022 20:35

Milka is my favourite. And Marabou, which I used to go to ikea especially for, but can get on Amazon now.

TheDouglasChater · 03/12/2022 20:40

Sainsbury’s did a 'dupe' tub with their own brand Xmas chocolates a few years back but it seems to have been discontinued, the bastards. It tasted more like the old time chocolates than the existing genuine ones.

M&S do a box and I think their chocolates are lovely, however at £5 for an average sized box...

Namechanged131 · 03/12/2022 20:43

I just had a cadburys 8 square Mint crisp . It was actually lovely . I think the 8 square bars are the best . We have just had a discussion and decided not to buy heroes or celebrations this year and just get some bars instead .

BigGreen · 03/12/2022 20:44

Omg Montezuma giant milk buttons are the best, but they are so freaking expensive. (But I do buy them when I get a decent Amazon offer).

BaconAndAvocado · 03/12/2022 21:05

Oh crikey! Are Celebrations rubbish this year too?

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 03/12/2022 21:06

I'm thinking in seeing if I can get some kind of conspiracy theory going about all this stuff that has changed taste
It must be the covid surely?

unsync · 03/12/2022 21:17

These are good, how chocolate should be. temprd.co.uk/

SuperCamp · 03/12/2022 21:23

I had a Roses caramel barrel (handing them out in a shop), it was revolting. Tasted of oil, felt like oil, just horrible.

Passthecheeseboard · 03/12/2022 21:24

Yes Cadburys doesn’t taste as good as it used to 😢 … The Americans truly have fucked up the recipe… no surprises really I knew they would when I heard they were taking over the company… America is known for its shite chocolate , anyone ever tried the American hersheys?? 🤢

On another note I noticed my celebrations wrappers have all changed, God only knows why… thought they looked better before tbh 🤔

I find Galaxy is the best chocolate now, or for a box of chocs hotel chocolate if you can afford it, everything else is shite

FlamingJingleBells · 03/12/2022 21:36

Sainsbury's and M&S own brand tub of chocs used to rase like old school chocolate. I don't know if they still do but worth a try getting those instead of Cadburys & QS.

Dreamsoffreedomjoyandpeace · 03/12/2022 21:42

They should bring back original Cadbury chocolate as a premium brand. People would happily pay more for it.

Desperatelyseekingreason · 03/12/2022 21:47

The Sainsbury own brand were lovely probably because they had no palm oil. They haven't had them for a couple of years and I can't find anything similar.
