.........ate my favourite choc, a Twirl. It tasted not right at all! Very disappointing.
DCs agreed.
So far, the Creme Egg and Wispa ones taste the same.

What the bejeebers is going on?

It seems to be all chocolate these days!

I had some Hotel Chocolat recently and they tasted of absolutely nothing! The last few ended up in the bin - and I am a massive chocolate lover!

I just had a cadburys 8 square Mint crisp . It was actually lovely . I think the 8 square bars are the best . We have just had a discussion and decided not to buy heroes or celebrations this year and just get some bars instead .

Are these available in the UK, I e only seen them in Ireland. Love the Golden Crisp. Tastes like proper chocolate.

Perhaps someone who used to work for cadburys who knows what the mix was, could set up their own new brand, with the right mix of milk and sugar - they would make a fortune. Call it a glass and a half and we would all know what it was.😁

I wouldn't mind trying the milk chocolate truffles. I've got enough chocolate for Christmas but my birthday's not far away so I might try them then

AutisticLegoLover · 03/12/2022 22:06

I just read that as you just opened a box of Herpes. My eyesight gets dusty at this time of night.

Toodlesbean · 03/12/2022 22:09

We have Irish colleagues that being cadburys mint crisp back when they visit Dublin. That tastes amazing!! Like the way chocolate used to be.

I had a Roses caramel barrel (handing them out in a shop), it was revolting. Tasted of oil, felt like oil, just horrible.

They should rename the caramel barrel the caramel oil drum. Envy

I've bought zero Christmas chocolate this year. I used to scoff my way through 20 2 tubs of quality street and about 50 5 chocolate oranges every December. Never again.

I can tolerate Australian cadburys chocolate. British Cadburys can get in the bin.

DrCoconut · 03/12/2022 22:18

All the inclusions in Cadbury's have ruined it for me. Most of the bars are not safe for a gluten free diet due to contamination, presumably from the oreos etc. I really really miss whole nut and have been really excited to find the bags of mini whole nut bars that I can actually eat! But they will be seasonal and disappear by new year. I've heard that the mini egg bars which were safe this year no longer will be going forward 😭Suitable own brands are increasingly difficult to source too and I find galaxy really sickly and oversweet.

ClaryFairchild · 03/12/2022 22:22

Interesting, I just double checked and supposedly the Australian Cadbury and Aldi chocolate don't contain palm oil. They taste REALLY different to UK chocolate though. We bought a UK whispa bar and my DSs refused to eat it, whereas they used to love them when we lived in the UK.

Tinner01 · 03/12/2022 22:30

Have found my people! I used to lurve cadburys dairy milk- it felt like a real treat. Now it crumbles instead of melting and doesn’t taste luxurious, rich or creamy!

Babdoc · 03/12/2022 22:30

Guylian now certify on the box of their Belgian chocolate seashells that they contain no palm oil. But I suspect they now have more sugar and less cocoa as they taste sweeter but less chocolatey.

Skodacool · 03/12/2022 22:32

It’s possible that these chocs were made during the extremely hot weather and have suffered as a consequence.

HRTQueen · 03/12/2022 22:38

ImAvingOops · 03/12/2022 20:35

Milka is my favourite. And Marabou, which I used to go to ikea especially for, but can get on Amazon now.

I have the same taste in chocolate as you ImAvingOops

Shall be ordering from Amazon straight after

have you been to Germany ? The Milka range is fantastic worth going just for this reason 😊

Mulhollandmagoo · 03/12/2022 22:42

I just ate a twirl out of a selection box and it didn't taste very nice at all....maybe it's cos we've cracked them out too early? 🤣

RhubarbStrawberry · 03/12/2022 22:43

Irish cadbury has got palm oil too unfortunately.

I've always found Guylian too sweet. Somebody bought me back a tin of Valrohna chocolates when they went to Spain, they were lovely. I think you can get them from Amazon now.

Bagzzz · 03/12/2022 22:48

Iceland went palm oil free for own brand products and had amazing chocolate for a short while, then discontinued and now stock the big brands. That was 2018 and they never met the pledge and it has been removed.

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 03/12/2022 22:53

I like Milka in small doses but find it a bit too sweet and somewhat claggy in the mouth. Likewise Galaxy actually.

oakleaffy · 03/12/2022 22:53

Palm oil is vile stuff, and they think it's partly to do with why we are so ''fat'' now, as a nation. Palm oil in so much cheaper food.

oakleaffy · 03/12/2022 23:00

I thought 'Galaxy' had changed for the worse, too.. not as pleasant a taste as a few years ago.
What used to be used instead of the infernal palm oil?

AutisticLegoLover · 03/12/2022 23:25

@oakleaffy cocoa butter I think.

GreenTeaPingPong · 03/12/2022 23:34

Have you tried Cadbury's darkmilk, OP? You can get bars or bags of buttons. We like it, probably because it has more cocoa in it.

ZittiEBuoni · 03/12/2022 23:36

A random man in M&S the other day recommended theirs and said they were 'like Quality Street when they were proper Quality Street' so I'm thinking of trying them out.

dizzydizzydizzy · 04/12/2022 00:48

Can I have the Bountys and Snickerd please?

Ah I got it in Ireland . They have golden crispy and fruit and nut and while nut . A while display of them . Tbh I would have got tub of hero’s cheaper than the 2 bars we got but they were worth it
