Hello, can someone suggest a nice but affordable place that serves afternoon tea in Central London? Oxford street, Piccadilly, Covent Garden, Victoria?
Thank you

I've been to Fortnum & Mason twice and would happily recommend it. Faultless service and lovely food

For something very elegant and not at all naff, try Petersham Nursery in Covent Garden. Absolutely exquisite and rustic at the same time, not a crustless cucumber sandwich in sight.

What about the Wallace Collection restaurant? Then you can go round the collection afterwards. Manchester Square behind Oxford Street.

We had a lovely afternoon tea at the Clermont Charing Cross, overlooking Trafalgar Square. I know my daughter got a deal on a voucher. Great views and helpful staff.

The Wolsley.

Claridges is the best, but you usually need to book 3 months in advance.

The Savoy.

It was amazing.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/12/2022 21:03

The service in F&M is amazing and you get so much food. It's not cheap but worth doing. The best bit is the 3 zillion types of tea you get to choose from.

The Wolseley is nowhere near as good but much cheaper and a lovely building.

IggyAce · 03/12/2022 21:04

The Wolsley fantastic service and a very reasonable price.

Todaynotalways · 03/12/2022 21:05

I enjoyed Brown's Hotel this summer.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/12/2022 21:08

Must admit I've never found the service in The Wolseley all that good.

Rina66 · 03/12/2022 21:16

I agree, Claridges is my favourite but the Savoy, Fortnum & Mason and The Ritz are all great too - or maybe something like Maison Bertraux if you just want coffee and cakes in the afternoon? Lots of the London hotels do afternoon tea and they look lovely at this time of year too.

popandchoc · 03/12/2022 21:17

Sanderson hotel.

What do you mean by "affordable price" op?

Theancetocomein · 03/12/2022 21:22

I think

EmmaAgain22 · 03/12/2022 21:31

I clearly have a different definition of reasonably priced.

Browns restaurant, not hotel, do a nice one at £24 pp

I was at Fortnum last Saturday for afternoon tea and honestly I wouldn't recommend it. Food was lovely but service was poor. Had to ask a few times for things, otherwise we were completely ignored. It was very busy though and while our waitress was perfectly pleasant, she was overstretched. It felt like they should have had a few more staff on.

No, I last went about 18 months ago

It doesn't look like it's changed much though. It's been the most reasonable afternoon tea I've seen over the years.

it's not like the ones where they will endlessly refill your plates but I find it plenty and I do love an afternoon tea!

next time I might try this but never been so no experience
