What do I want for Christmas?

Dh is asking and I'm struggling to think of anything. I don't really need or want anything so I'm hoping you lot can help!

I'm 41, female and in the throes of peri menopause.
I love reading, gardening and spending time with my family.
I don't go out much.
I've got into a decent skin care regime and he is buying me a voucher for a facial with the skin care specialist I see.
I like candles but have gone off the Yankee candle ones recently.

Any ideas?

I’ve asked for the Michael palin diaries and the Alan Rickman book.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/12/2022 08:43

I am hankering after a terrarium to complement my obscene number of house plants.

Also an ornamental holly bush which I've got my beady eye on.

And one day I woke up and realised I had turned into my grandmother 😆

Champagneforeveryone · 03/12/2022 08:44

Oh, and a colleague swears by The Botanical Candle Company and has embarked on a slow and steady indoctrination of others to her cause 😉

I had this exact question & asked on here a week or so back 😄
After some very helpful ladies recommended the kindle paperwhite to me, that's what I've gone for.
I loved reading everyone's suggestions though!
Have you seen those reading pillows?
Or how about a book subscription or a kindle if you've not already got one.
Best of luck! 🍀

We always buy each other a trip away together.

TokenGinger · 03/12/2022 09:08

Do you have a Kindle already if you like to read? I love mine and since I got it, I like when DP buys me Kindle Unlimited for the year for my Christmas present.

😂I do love a house plant. I'll look but I think he might leave me if I bring another house plant home 😂

I love my paper white. He also got me kindle unlimited a few years ago and keeps paying it!
I'll look at the reading pillow. If I can find it I'll nosy through your ideas too ❤️

This is what I suggested but he's on about something to unwrap. I'd rather just watch everyone else open theirs!

I’m getting the sequel for The Miniaturist and chocolate. I much prefer to get ‘stuff’ in the sales, so that’s all I’ve asked for.

BarbaraofSeville · 03/12/2022 11:29

I'd want him to listen to what I'm saying about not being bothered about 'something to open' and also use his brain to think of something himself instead of pushing the mental load of choosing something onto me.

Can he not just go out and buy perfume, chocolates, gin or whatever consumable you like without being spoonfed?

I'm not sure what peri menopause has to do with Christmas presents!

This probably won't be helpful but my boyfriend has gone halves on a bass amp for me. Would have been too expensive for him to pay for all of it and I was going to get it anyway.

That's perfect for me.

PinkHeadphones · 03/12/2022 13:56

We sound very similar OP.
I want:
A wide range of specific books
Chilli hot chocolate
Literary themed jigsaws
Neom candles and bath products
Bowls with bulbs in
Planters
A denim jacket
A bath robe

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 03/12/2022 14:02

Monthly book subscription

Posh candle - diptique, le jardin retrouve or neom

Cashmere bed socks

Thank you!
