Is this an awful present?

I have a pet sitter occasionally and she's great. I want to get her a Christmas gift but don't know her well. I thought I'd get her a gift bag of stuff but don't know whether it's naff. I don't have tons of money. So far I've put in:
Tea bags
Nice coffee
Hot chocolate
Malteasers
A scratch card
A candle
Pet treats for her own pet

Is that ok do you think? Is there anything you'd change?

I’d love that!

BobbyBobbyBobby · 02/12/2022 11:56

It really is the thought that counts and you’ve shown you care. Better to get stuff that stabs a good chance of being used rather than it going in the bin.

Phew!

Does that mean it's naff?

Stands Not stabs.

stabbing wouldn’t be a good idea.

KangarooKenny · 02/12/2022 11:58

I might have put some thermal socks or gloves in, but it sounds fine.

Plump82 · 02/12/2022 11:58

That's so generous of you!! And very thoughtful. I've got my cat sitter coming this weekend and I've bought her a tin of monty bojangles truffles that are in a cat tin.

Lostatseawithnolighthouse · 02/12/2022 11:59

Thanks all

If you’re trying to create a “relax” message how about adding a paperback book. Less than £4 in Tesco

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 02/12/2022 12:00

That's lovely, so thoughtful. 😊

Christmasnero · 02/12/2022 12:01

Really thoughtful, I’d be really touched by that
any gift would be lovely but one that someone has taken the time to find some nice things would really make me a bit emotional!

Skiphopbump · 02/12/2022 12:02

It’s a lovely idea.

christmastreetime · 02/12/2022 12:04

Yes I'd love something like that

BeaLola · 02/12/2022 12:06

I think that's very kind and thoughtful and I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Cherrysherbet · 02/12/2022 12:06

That’s lovely 🥰

carefulcalculator · 02/12/2022 12:07

What's not to like? Simple, nice gifts are not naff - the word naff to me means something pointless like a coaster saying 'wine o'clock'.

Candles do verge towards naff, IMO, but they are popular and harmless so if you think your dog walker is a candle person that also is fine.

DutchessOfMuck · 02/12/2022 12:07

I would be over the moon with that gift. What about adding in some good solid old fashioned comfy biscuits like rich tea or digestives.

Beamur · 02/12/2022 12:08

That's s really thoughtful.

SixDinnerSally · 02/12/2022 12:10

I think it depends on the type of tea bags 😬

My dad probably has ASC and I remember years ago trying to explain why a Body Shop shampoo would be a good gift but not Palmolive!

JoyeuxNarwhal · 02/12/2022 12:33

If you could stretch to it maybe a travel mug to go with the tea/coffee? No worries if not though, I'm sure she will enjoy your gift. If it was me I'd be so grateful to be seen as a person and not an employee!

JoyeuxNarwhal · 02/12/2022 12:35

Actually, ignore the travel mug, for some reason I thought she was a dog walker! If she's sitting pets then she can sit down indoors with her cuppa!

dontgobaconmyheart · 02/12/2022 12:44

It's the gesture that counts. I don't think it's naff and is pretty inoffensive but I still think I'd have just got her a voucher so she can get what she wants or fancies as a treat and a nice card thanking her for all her help (plus a small something for the pet of course!)

BobbyBobbyBobby · 02/12/2022 12:45

Lostatseawithnolighthouse · 02/12/2022 11:57

Does that mean it's naff?

No! You’ve chosen well.

Rubyupbeat · 02/12/2022 12:46

I always give my dog walker cash, but hes a man in his 20s, so would not want to chance buying him bits, Lol.

MassiveSalad22 · 02/12/2022 12:50

I’d just do a voucher or something. It reads like a groceries list 😬 sorry OP but you did have an inkling otherwise you wouldn’t have asked.
