Got Saturday night to myself (bliss)
Going to buy a dinner from M&S or Waitrose

I'm having pasta tomorrow

What would be your ultimate tv dinner to sit on the sofa with?

Charlie Bingham’s, just about any of their meals. No M&S food hall near me so I haven’t had a ready meal from there for about 25 years.

<goes off to look up M&S ready meal options >

ocado

Brokenlightbulb · 01/12/2022 22:38

M&S butter chicken is delicious.

Don't be a dingus Biscuit

My favs are beef stroganoff plus rice or paella - Waitrose do a decent frozen paella 🥘

Confused I don't want your biscuit. I've just finished a massive salad.

mrsbyers · 01/12/2022 22:42

It’s Charlie Bigham not Bingham - I was shocked at this but I love his cottage pie , husband doesn’t like cottage pie so it’s my treat

TomAllenWife · 01/12/2022 22:47

I'm not a huge cottage pie fan either or red meat in general!

Does he do a fish pie?
(Charlie Bigham)

The Thai fish cakes and bao buns sound delicious 😋😋

Oooooh, fish pie, bistro salad and baguette with good spread of real butter. My OH can’t bear the smell of fish pie so enjoy this on a weekend night to myself!

converseandjeans · 01/12/2022 22:49

Charlie Bigham chicken & mushroom risotto or the chicken & ham gratin.

M&S curries are nice too.

spotddog · 01/12/2022 22:51

M&S fish pie. It had gone "off", instant potato and lack of fish. Last couple of FPS I had were delicious if you don't mind salt.
Gourmet Pub Offer; Fish Pie, greens (lots of peas), starter or dessert for £12 is a good deal. Add nice wine and cheeses/chocs for later, feet up and good movie/series. Enjoy.

DarkDarkNight · 01/12/2022 22:55

M&S king prawn bucatini or chicken arrabiata. Also very partial to Macaroni cheese.

Eastie77Returns · 01/12/2022 22:58

The only ready meals I eat are Charlie Bigham’s. The Red Thai curry is to die for.

cinnamonsnails · 01/12/2022 23:05

Tesco finest macaroni cheese. In their words...

"Cooked chifferi pasta in a cheese sauce topped with Red Leicester cheese and breadcrumbs.

Our creamy cheese sauce is made using tangy mature Cheddar. Blended with milk, cream and a hint of mustard until smooth and velvety. Finished off with a sprinkling of crumbled tortilla chips and Red Leicester cheese for a crunchy topping..
Cooked in a rich Cheddar sauce. Finished with crumbled tortilla chips and Red Leicester."

It's the best ready meal one I've ever had.

Woahbodyforrrrm · 01/12/2022 23:05

Charlie Bighams Spanish Chicken is delicious. It comes with a tray of herby potatoes.

Also Cook do lovely homemade frozen microwave meals, they have lots to choose from.

Enjoy your lovely peaceful evening!

doodleygirl · 01/12/2022 23:08

This was me last week. I was so overwhelmed by the choice I left with nothing and had dippy eggs, soldiers and red wine, followed by a chocolate eclair.

Thisbastardcomputer · 01/12/2022 23:13

Charlie Bigham's macaroni cheese, I could eat it until the cows come home

Dear god all these pasta suggestions when I'm having pasta tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Fish pie is a good shout, who does the best? Charlie?? Or M&S?

Charlie does the best fish pie

ALL of the rest have too much ruddy potato

He also does the best cottage pie

Mother87 · 01/12/2022 23:18

Charlie Bighams Moussaka - even though I pull some of the aubergine out as it looks like mangled ratsGrin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/12/2022 23:20

My DP works abroad quite a lot, and I often get ready meals then as I am lazy. I’ll usually do three nights of ready meals, one veggie stir-fry, one jacket potato/filling and salad, and a couple of egg/mushrooms/beans/toast type things.

He hates fish so we never have it at home, and my absolute fave is the M&S smoked haddock florentine. I add extra broccoli or another green veg, sometimes a poached egg on top. (The cat enjoys this one too.)

M&S do three “Italian” oven/micro things for £8 which tend to be good. The chicken and mushroom risotto is fab.

Zipps · 01/12/2022 23:25

M&S mushroom and truffle pasta sauce with pasta
M&S Macaroni cheese
M&S Dirty fries
M&S pizza
M&S garlic bread slices
M&S chicken kievs

ArtichokeAardvark · 01/12/2022 23:25

Charlie Bigham fish pie is delish. My go-to ready meal. It's the most expensive of the lot though 😣 otherwise I like the M&S gastro chicken Kyiv.

ValBiro · 01/12/2022 23:26

We have a Charlie B (as he's called here) once... Sometimes TWO times a week! The Thai or Indian are my favourites. With either prawn toast or samosas on the side!

Cocolapew · 01/12/2022 23:26

M&S curry or sweet chilli chicken. The s c chicken not a microwave meal but does in about 15 minutes. Their egg fried rice is the best.

1stWorldProblems · 01/12/2022 23:38

Chicken Cordon Bleu - like a Kyiv/Kiev but with cheese & ham on the middle. Serve with mash, sweetcorn & lemon butter sauce - cook butter until it frothes & goes golden then add lemon juice til it stops bubbling. Yum
Otherwise Charlie's fish pie or Cook pork akexander

I’m the other “one” I don’t eat ready meals. As a treat I would choose fish and chips from the chippie.

That’s quite different.

The other poster pretended to have no idea what a ready meal could possibly be.

MrsAvocet · 01/12/2022 23:44

I'm another fish pie fan. Or chilli con carne, as nobody else in the family likes it.

Beginbylettinggo · 02/12/2022 00:05

I'm shocked nobody has mentioned the m&s roast dinners inside a giant Yorkshire pudding. The chicken one is hands down the best ready meal ever!
