Bread, potatoes, rice or pasta - which would you choose?
I think potato as most versatile but bread a close second. I think about this dilemma a lot

Potatoes, in the form of crisps

LlamasSitOnPyjamas · 28/11/2022 23:12

Bread, no question

Usmbsr · 28/11/2022 23:12

Rice, but I'd really miss potato.

Bread. I love a potato but just not as useful day to day. Not at all bothered about pasta or rice.

Probablymagrat · 28/11/2022 23:14

Spuds....but can I make potato bread?

spotsmix · 28/11/2022 23:14

Pasta

RewildingAmbridge · 28/11/2022 23:14

Rice, I will never give up curry, yes you can have chapattis or naan but it's not the same. Lots of other spicy foods are rice based/accompanied too so I think that's the winner for me. Do I also get rice noodles?

Tryfull · 28/11/2022 23:14

Bread. Rice is so dull, that would be my last choice.

Msgrieves · 28/11/2022 23:15

Potato probably, would be a toss up between that and pasta though.

CuriositysCat · 28/11/2022 23:15

Potatoes. Without shadow of a doubt. I rarely eat bread. I do eat pasta, noodles and rice for variety but love potatoes in just about any form.

AnnListersBlister · 28/11/2022 23:22

Probably bread! So many different types. Rice I never purposefully choose unless with a curry. Pasta I love but It's as useful nutritionally as bread but doesn't really taste of anything. Potatoes I can live without.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 28/11/2022 23:23

Tough one but I think potatoes. I love chips, jacket spuds, mash, new potatoes ( especially Jersey Royals with butter & mint), roasties, croquette potatoes ……..

DramaAlpaca · 28/11/2022 23:25

Potatoes, I think. They are so versatile. Second choice would be bread.

Applepie18 · 28/11/2022 23:26

Potatoes. Love a baked one. Also more nutritious than pasta! Although pasta would be my second choice.

ShinyPikachu · 28/11/2022 23:29

Pasta but I would really miss toast and naan bread. I'm not bothered about potatoes other than in crisp form so it would help my weight loss if I couldn't have them at all.

Cherrysoup · 28/11/2022 23:29

Bread.

olivehater · 28/11/2022 23:30

Bread. A crusty baguette goes with everything.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 28/11/2022 23:32

Bread any type or shape, life without toast or fruit toast and butter would be horrible.

Potatoes come in second

Pasta I can take or leave

Rice Ide happily not bother with at all.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 28/11/2022 23:33

Rice. But can you include all the things, like pasta/bread/etc made with rice flour?

ApplesinmyPocket · 28/11/2022 23:34

I love potatoes in every form so it was no conflict for me

a jacket spud oozing with butter
chips (home made - crispy and golden ) - OR chip shop chips - never the sad sad atrocity that is 'oven chips'
crisps (especially Tyrell's plain)
buttery mash with cream, salt and white pepper

all of these are not just 'fill up foods' but TREATS in my book

Rice is dull but I'll eat it. Pasta, I loathe the texture.

Lentilweaver · 28/11/2022 23:36

Rice. I grew up eating it 3 time a day. I could still do that if I weren't trying to cut carbs. Sometimes I dream of it like other people dream of sugar!

astarsheis · 28/11/2022 23:37

Spaghetti...with butter cheese and black pepper

minipie · 28/11/2022 23:40

Pasta. Especially if that also includes noodles

mondaytosunday · 28/11/2022 23:41

Bread

Suemademedoit · 28/11/2022 23:42

Rice BUT, why isn’t cake an option??
