Boring but necessary, what’s for dinner?

Think dh and ds are on the leftovers from last nights roast.
dd is going to make something for her and a friend.
Which leaves me to my own devices. I’m not up for anything faffy or complicated, I don’t really like cooking, need something healthy (not soup!) - I’m craving a warm salad or some description so definitely not a takeaway…
What are your dinner plans tonight?

We had chicken risotto. I’m making quiche on Wednesday. Not sure tomorrow as I will be in and out quickly. Maybe spag Bol from the freezer.

We are also have leftovers from yesterday’s yummy roast, one veggie having a Quorn & leek bake with it, the rest having beef.
It was delicious & the first Sunday roast we’ve had for a while. We always do extra roasties & veg though so we have an easy Monday meal.

InFiveMins · 28/11/2022 17:18

Will be roasting a whole chicken shortly and having a chicken wrap with salad and rice.

Could you do a baked potato with tuna and salad? That would be my next choice I think tonight, doesn't take long and is reasonably healthy!

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/11/2022 17:18

Cheese omelette and chips, sorry. It’s a wild hormonal craving and cold.

AlwaysLatte · 28/11/2022 17:18

Tonight is burger night, with lettuce, tomatoes, Stilton and cheddar, red onion, jalapeños, cucumber and Peru salted chips. People can just build their own then.

RememberedForAllTheWrongReasons · 28/11/2022 17:21

@AlwaysLatte I just Google Peru salted chips…it suggested Peri salted, or is Peru something new for us to try out?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/11/2022 17:24

I’m making twice baked potatoes with minced beef and cheese. New recipe idea, I had mince in the fridge but I couldn’t face bolognese again so I googled and it was the first thing that came up. My Christmas cake is in the oven so I am oven baking the potatoes 😋

LongingToBeByTheSea · 28/11/2022 17:24

We're having a vegetable goulash type thing with garlic bread.
Kids are having chips and fish fingers/chicken dippers because of course they'd instantly turn into a pumpkin if they even touched a vegetable Hmm

Ylvamoon · 28/11/2022 17:29

Veggie pasta bake & garlic bred

If I was doing dinner for myself it would be warm potato salad with a boid egg on top... 😋

Ylvamoon · 28/11/2022 17:29

Boild not boid!!

TheOrigRights · 28/11/2022 17:30

Air fryer chicken breast with Piri Piri rub, rice, carrots, raw spinach and rocket (DS13 in a leafy phase)

TheChosenTwo · 28/11/2022 17:31

@LongingToBeByTheSea my ds only likes green vegetables 😂

well it’s all change here, dh has been struck down by a lurgy so I’m doing dinner for everyone now, he’s in need of some serious comfort food, maybe sausages and mash with onion gravy… and lots of green veg on the side for me?!

Spag bol. Pay day tomorrow so using up what's in the cupboards and freezer.

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/11/2022 17:42

I am going out for a work dinner at a steak restaurant.

But if I was at home and feeling like you I would have goats cheese and roast veg salad with some green leaves, balsamic vinegar and pine nuts

Sausages and mash is always a winner, I haven’t had that yet this year..

Useitorloseit · 28/11/2022 17:43

Pancetta, leek and pea risotto! Sounds a lot posher than it was 🤣

familyissues12345 · 28/11/2022 17:44

DH and DS - chicken fajitas from the Gousto box

Me - Lidl Ragu tarts, potatoes of some description and broccoli

We're hoping to move in two weeks so trying to clear out the freezer!

I had an amazing butternut squash and feta salad recently

Maxifly · 28/11/2022 17:47

Mish mash of cold roast chicken from yesterday, creamy garlic mushrooms on toast, and tomato /cucumber salad.

TheChosenTwo · 28/11/2022 17:47

Squash and feta salad sounds nice.
Ive now got a real hankering for tartiflette but none of my local supermarkets ever have reblechon cheese 😭

I did cottage pie the other night. That felt like proper comfort food.

Willmafrockfit · 28/11/2022 17:51

morrocan harira, left overs, with rice

CheapWine · 28/11/2022 17:52

if you’re looking for salad ….

For the last two nights I’ve had a Poke Bowl type salad. Lettuce, red onion, pickled red cabbage, kimchi, avocado, mixed grains (microwaved pouch grains) hot salmon, peanuts and a spice mayo drizzled on.

it was so good on Sunday that I repeated it on Monday.
