Disgusted by Balenciaga campaign 2022

Adding a link for context but it's already over the internet.

nypost.com/2022/11/25/balenciaga-files-25m-suit-against-bdsm-teddy-bear-ad-producers/

Hard to accept an apology when these ads and campaigns are so calculated and need to go through many people before it gets approved. It's so shocking how this was ever allowed.

This is what happens when society is forced to accept fetishism, kink, perversion, whatever.

Happy 'inclusivity' everyone.

Redchecks · 28/11/2022 14:38

I just saw something about this on instagram - maybe it was the catwalk show or something? I’m not sure if the context. But what looked like models were carrying Balenciaga shopping bags full of teddies covered in blood and baby dolls… It was pretty disturbing.

I understand a certain amount of controversy gets your name in the news (aka free advertising) but why would you want your brand to be associated with peadophilia??

They’re not pedophiles anymore, they’re minor-attracted persons and they’d like to be included in LGB and have even created their own flag.

How do we sign up to go and live on the moon?

intheminds · 28/11/2022 15:15

Maybe it was done to get everyone talking about the brand.

JaneJeffer · 28/11/2022 15:24

They're disgusting.

maudesvagina · 28/11/2022 15:27

Seems like the stylist has form. twitter.com/curioslight/status/1596812625517498368?s=46&t=Q9f0Ukh9nBH9JXdtYjYxzA

It's absolutely bizarre. Have you dug into all the hidden symbolism as well? It's so, so odd. As someone else said, controversy does get press but why would you want to be associated with THIS?

HermioneWeasley · 28/11/2022 15:28

It was definitely deliberate- one of the shots with no kids the handbag is resting on a document which is legislation to stop restriction on images of child sexual abuse. The person responsible is very clearly telling us who they are.

This is a pretty good article on it and the wider "adultification" of children

@intheminds

"Maybe it was done to get everyone talking about the brand."

Hopefully it will backfire and people will boycott the shops. Perhaps even shred a few items - put them in the bin and put that on twitter #protectOurKids

A sponsored shredding would be a good idea, it would raise money for children’s charities and get Balenciaga clothes in the bin!

There are no 'accidents' here, everyone involved knew EXACTLY what they were promoting. The swing towards removing all safeguarding has made them feel safe to do this.

No, this wasn't an 'all publicity is good publicity stunt'. No decent brand wants to be associated with paedophilia. This is the creators sending a message and there are many people listening.

BedTaker · 28/11/2022 18:15

It's a bid to legitimise paedophilia.

If you do ad campaigns with images of child sexual abuse (and forcing children who cannot consent to take part in sexually explicit images, such as these ones with BDSM themed handbags, and imagery of child sex abuse court cases, that is child abuse), and people still continue to work with you, wear your stuff, then that is your mandate to continue doing what you are doing. It makes it OK.

Kim Kardashian has put out a pathetic statement on this, and she clearly intends to carry on working with Balenciaga, despite giving them a 'ticking off' and wagging her finger at them.

So those behind it can say, 'we were doing this in plain sight and people were OK with it, so what's the problem'?

No I haven't, what are they ? Tbh I only came across this in the morning when I saw a mum post about it. I can't understand why any big brand would want to jeopardise themselves this way

Soooo deliberate. Everything was very well thought out from the photos to the paper under the book. There is literally a whole agenda going to exploit children and they have a nerve to then apologise and look at who to blame.

The only Balenciaga thing I have were those popular sock trainers and I think I wore them once. I literally have no intentions to buy or represent anything of theirs anymore.

I agree it's so pathetic of Kim K because it's obvious she wants to continue to get money from them but she's trying to look humble with that pathetic post she put up. I wouldn't be surprised it she's waiting for things to die down and then be like well they realised their mistake and done something about it. Makes me think maybe Kanye wasn't crazy after all, he has been trying to put a lot of these big brands.

Nicole Kidman is modelling for them at the moment and she's been silent about all this. Interestingly her dad was involved in a paedophilia ring.

This thread suggested they are taking legal action

Spambod · 28/11/2022 18:50

I found it so upsetting. Paedophiles obviously often use teddies and role play to groom children so this was paedophilic content quite blatantly.
fashion has always been sexually exploitative and sleazy but to be so obvious about it with children was a new low.
in my view this was deliberate and it was put together by a knowing paedophile. There is no innocent explanation.
what also disgusts me is that this will be so triggering for people who were groomed using toys and teddies in this way.
just sickening really.

Hard agree.

In the last few years there’s been a welcome mat out for exposing children to stuff they shouldn’t be around.
Pride is full of kink, MAPs, puppy play, furries, and all endorsed by most high street brands and the police being photographed getting in on the kink action.

Drag Queen story time for little children - no matter what your personal feelings on this we should all be able to agree that drag, up until very recently, was an adult only entertainment. Bly now we see little boys like Desmond is Amazing hanging around with naked blokes in a way that would normally be seen as a safeguarding issue.

The genderfication of children of all ages, the massive lack of safeguarding around these issues and the grooming involved.

Obviously Balenciaga are in the wrong here, but at the end of the day they haven’t exactly done something that’s gone against the general grain of recent years when it comes to keeping our children safe.

Hopefully this will highlight to stupid people why their wholesale acceptance of kink for children is not ok.

HowzAboutIt · 28/11/2022 18:54

What the hell were the parents thinking allowing their children to pose like this? They would have been in the room as the kids were so little
They should have taken them out and stopped the perverts in their tracks
