Robot hoover recommendation before Black Friday?

Looking for a robot hoover that maps and can send to one room etc. Do you need one with the self emptying option or happy enough to emptying each day? Square one like neato or a roomba etc?

iRobot and the mop, bloody love them both. Self emptying.

I have a neato D7 - brought on a Black Friday deal a few years ago love it makes cleaning soo much easier still have to go round with the hand held Dyson once a week but for everyday use to keep things under control it's great. Seriously considering a robot mop now but can't find one that's reasonable and just a mop.

Which one have you got? How many times do you have to empty/change the bag for how many times it’ll go round your house?

This is my data. I have changed the bag twice in that time.

We have a big tiled area and 2 wool rugs.

its the i7 and M6

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 24/11/2022 21:35

I do take it upstairs too, but it’s mainly downstairs.

ParisHotel · 24/11/2022 21:37

Oh wow that’s better than I thought with 133 hours. I imagined I would have to empty the bag every 3 times or something! How much does it hold? Would you get the same model you have or another one?

I’d buy it again tomorrow. It’s possibly over spec’d for us really, but I wanted one that could cope with an animal.
Bags aren’t huge, but it sucks it in pretty hard. Having to empty it would stop me using it as it would be just another bloody job that needs doing, self emptying every time.

the mapping function is excellent and really easy to block areas (Xmas tree, wires etc), double visit, focus clean, do one room or a series.

I think it’s brilliant

ParisHotel · 24/11/2022 21:44

Thanks that’s really useful, how much are the bags or are there other brands you can use? I’ll hope for it to drop more tomorrow….

I think you can get rip offs on Amazon, but I have just bought the branded ones so far. The accessories aren’t the cheapest, but so far, it’s been pretty low cost as we don’t get through them.
I have had to change a roller as 3 people with long hair means I do sometimes need to detangle it - not as much as our hoover though. All the brushes have lasted well.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 24/11/2022 21:51

The website has all the accessories

Tootsey11 · 24/11/2022 22:08

Don't waste your money, they are all a load of crap and end up threw in the cupboard under the stairs gathering dust.

SilverSalver · 24/11/2022 22:12

I have a Bagotte which maps. Would buy another tomorrow. I didn't believe it would clean very well but it's very thorough.

😂 I press a button in the app, job done.

paddler78 · 24/11/2022 22:16

My Neato doesn't take bags just empty the container probably once every 2 weeks but we don't have dogs would imagine with dogs it would be a bit more frequent but the app tells me when it needs emptying, filters need changing every couple of months but to be fair I wash them through and use them a few times before I change them for new.

FrownedUpon · 24/11/2022 22:17

They don’t do rugs very well. Ours struggles and often misses bits which defeats the object really.

paddler78 · 24/11/2022 22:18

@dontcallmethatyoucunt does your mop work on laminate floors? We have the laminate that's got quite a thick layer of wood but not enough to sand down so doesn't count as real wood floor.

Well it sprays cleaner as it mops so I expect that’s more about the laminate and whether it would withstand that. Our floor is porcelain tiles so clearly they don’t get impacted. I expect if you wet mop then, yes you could use this. It’s effectively a wipe with a wet ecloth.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 24/11/2022 22:22

Even my cleaner says how good it is and she was very sniffy at first!

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 24/11/2022 22:23

Mine doesn’t miss stuff on rugs. You can also send it to do a double pass if it needs a deeper clean.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 24/11/2022 22:23

I’m a fan 😂

abbotsbury · 24/11/2022 22:24

We have a Eufy.
It's packed away in a cupboard as it just kept getting long hair caught up in the rollers. It's much easier to whizz around with our Dyson animal for 5 mins

ParisHotel · 25/11/2022 10:30

@dontcallmethatyoucunt do you find your downstairs or upstairs picks up more dirt? Does it need the docking station carried upstairs as well or just the vaccuum part?
