You first.

mashh · 24/11/2022 06:16

Not strange but it got me irrationally angry (internally) when one started vaping at my dining table. I don't know why as essentially no harm was done

mistopheles · 24/11/2022 06:29

Weird to ask without sharing

unkownone · 24/11/2022 06:34

One invited their family to my place for lunch. So I got enough food for everyone, 6 of them- friend left before lunch to drop a kid to a party- 5 left and just left husband with us, waited didn’t come back so served lunch, just finishing and she had sent someone to get him as they weren’t coming back. DH and I ate the desert lol She keeps trying to invite themselves back but I’m refusing.

Which desert was it? Kalahari, Sahara?

unkownone · 24/11/2022 06:37

Lol phone auto corrected

MrsArrDee · 24/11/2022 06:40

My friends are well behaved. They tend not to do strange things.

Nothing on some of these but I still find it weird. Two friends together once came to mine together to just to drop off something I'd left at one of their houses. It was arranged.

They stayed ages. They'd arrived at about 15:00 and were still there at about 19:30 maybe even later now I think about it. We'd not arranged to do anything but we sat in the garden initially then moved inside. I kept thinking at some point they'll have somewhere to be but they didn't.

I offered them tea/coffee on their arrival and as time ticked alone kept offering them things, tea/coffee and as it got later some alcoholic drinks, dinner, snacks, asked if they wanted anything repeatedly but all was refused. Conversation had dried up but still they kept just hanging about.

We weren't really close, drop in on one another sorts of friends and they'd never visited me before. I was off work sick which they knew about. I love them both to bits still but it was rather odd! I kept wondering if they were about to drop some sort of bombshell on me about something I didn't know about, or if I'd promised them something and forgotten and they daren't mention it...

My OH came home from work early one day as he was feeling so unwell. Very unlike him as he’s never poorly. My friend was over at the time and we were sitting chatting in the kitchen as my OH stumbled through the front door looking VERY unwell….pale, sweating, clutching his stomach. I helped him upstairs to bed and came downstairs to get him some water and painkillers and to explain to my friend how ill he was and say goodbye to her. I went back upstairs to sit on the bed with him and keep an eye on him really, as like I said he’s so rarely unwell. After about 2 hours of him rolling around in agony I called an ambulance. It arrived about 25/30 mins later and I rushed downstairs to let them in…as I showed them back upstairs I noticed my friend sitting on the sofa, feet up on the foot stall watching tele. As I peered round the door I noticed she’d made herself a sandwich and another coffee and settled herself down. As she saw me look round the door she simply said “I’ve cling filmed the cheese as whoever used it last hadn’t wrapped it properly”

I still can’t get my head around why she didn’t go home….or call up and see if we needed anything…or just anything other than making herself a sandwich!

Took pictures of my kids and living room. Not posed pics, but secretly snapping away as we were sat talking. One of them was of the back of my daughter's head while she was sat in her highchair. I thought she had her phone angled weird but I saw she'd taken a pic as I passed her a drink and glanced at her phone.

Stayed with a friend at mutual friend’s house for weekend. We left on Monday after mutual friend gone to work.I popped out to get flowers to leave. Came back to find other friend vigorously cleaning the house, full on hoovering, bleach down toilets, clearing dishes, emptying bins, stripping beds. All this wasn’t mess we’d caused, mutual friend is not house prod at all and house was v messy. She left it looking like a new pin. Mutual friend never said a word…

FiscalDragQueen · 24/11/2022 07:01

A freind's child.

Once a friend dropped her DS7 off to me at 5 am as she was doing something early. I left him downstairs to watch TV whilst I dealt with my 2 very young DC. When I came down I found a poo on the floor. Then I found a tea towel which he had whipped his bum on and another poo by my bike. I didn't have a dog. I gently asked him if it was him, and he absolutely denied it.

I felt sorry for him but was really confused and it was just ewwwww. It wasn't one of mine as one was in nappies and one was in bed.

Rainbowcat99 · 24/11/2022 07:09

A friend of a friend came to a party in my house. She was talking about how "floppy" her boobs had become since the menopause then she proceeded to take her bra off and do a cartwheel to demonstrate... it was an odd moment.

On the other hand I've been that person overstaying my welcome when I was a lot younger.
A winning combination of being :
socially inept and missing social cues,
extremely lonely
And
Desperate to escape from my horrible flatshare.

thecatsthecats · 24/11/2022 07:59

Only a very mild one compared to some of these, but one friend always reorganises things.

Not just puts them back once she's used them in the wrong place - she'll move things.

Like I chose my nice looking glasses to go in the glass front cupboard, and she'll swap them with some ugly ones in a closed cupboard, because they're used more often.

She moves cushions, ornaments etc - and finishes with a kind smile, as if to say, "there, fixed it for you".

A work colleague came over for a chat and cuppa, all going well until she stood right up screamed and ran out the room 😮turns out my cat had sat up from its sleeping position and she hadn’t noticed it was there, unknown to me, she was terrified of cats 😱

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 24/11/2022 08:51

Took a pee in the kitchen bin

Autumnalleavestime · 24/11/2022 08:53

One friend reorganises things, like my cutlery drawer or pot cupboard. I just let her crack on as she clearly thinks she’s helping. She’s not, and obvs can’t grasp that I have it the way I want it.

had a bbq a few years back and came inside, went upstairs to get something. to find one female guest upstairs peering in all the rooms. She just smiled at me said hi, walked past me and went downstairs like it was totally normal to find a guest peering in the bedroom.

Call These Friends? When Friendship Turns Weird

Women have taken to UK parenting forum Mumsnet to expose the weird things friends have done when visiting.

Copy copy blah blah blah Daily Mail copy blah

BobbyBobbyBobby · 24/11/2022 08:55

My parents house when I was a child. Circa 1971.

My friend came by on her pony to see if I wanted to come for a ride with her.

We were out but she knew there was a spare key under a rock and she let herself in to wait.

Imagine our surprise when we got home and there was my friend in the parlour watching tv with her Shetland pony!

determinedtomakethiswork · 24/11/2022 09:18

Yes @GlassDeli, such lazy journalism.

DearBangtan7 · 24/11/2022 09:39

Some of these are a laugh and really quite weird, thanks everyone who's shared so far!
