Would you want to live on the Moon (for a month or so)

The Artemis missions have begun. Currently orbiting around the Moon. The aim is to have a space station orbiting around the Moon and habitable pods on the Moon. So you take a space rocket to the space station and then there's a lander to take you to the Moon. And back.

There's a plan to have a vehicle on the Moon so you can drive. 12 miles per day.

Would you be tempted?

No and i think we should leave the moon alone weve done enough damage to earth

xJ0y · 21/11/2022 22:16

No, I'd be terrified I couldn't get back to earth.
So not even a bit tempted.

LizzieSiddal · 21/11/2022 22:17

No it’s a ridiculous idea. Why not fix the problems on this planet rather than starting a whole set of new ones somewhere else.

Beanbagtrap · 21/11/2022 22:19

It amazes me that we are pissing about trying to live on the moon rather than design a device that fits in an industrial chimney to convert carbon into oxygen. I mean if trees can do it, come on! But I guess there's no money to be made in that.

Hopefully they've moved on since Apollo 13

The view would be great

If space travel wasn’t so taxing, I’d go in a heartbeat.

AutumnCrow · 21/11/2022 22:22

Yes I'd do it for all mankind.

And stay there where they couldn't find me, and read Sappho.

MightyAtlantic · 21/11/2022 22:25

God no! There's a long list of people I'd like to send to the moon, but I won't be going there myself.

cakeorwine · 21/11/2022 22:27

If I was on one of those missions, I would probably just spend a lot of the time looking out of the windows at the view and trying to spot things.

I don’t think you would, most of space is unimaginable darkness.
Would be cool to travel in style though, aboard the Enterprise.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 21/11/2022 22:35

I absolutely would. I’d go to space in a heartbeat. Spending time off the planet would be amazing! I don’t think I’d pass the fitness tests though.

AutumnCrow · 21/11/2022 22:41

The Star Ship Menopause, to boldly go where no man has gone before

GettinHyggeWithIt · 21/11/2022 22:43

Would be way too scared but I’d cheer you on and watch live TV of it 🙂

TheYearOfSmallThings · 21/11/2022 22:45

No! I hate outer space - just thinking about it fills me with horror.

VenusClapTrap · 21/11/2022 23:24

I would. When I was young my ambition was to be the first woman on Mars.

There's still time!

Mars would obviously be amazing too. But I think the Moon is more of an achievable ambition for right now.

Faircastle · 21/11/2022 23:44

It's a nice idea in theory, but in reality I think it would involve long periods of boredom, a lot of safety checklists, and trying not to do anything which could cause you to die.

Mangledrake · 21/11/2022 23:46

No internet? Confused

DuchessDandelion · 21/11/2022 23:49

A month is too long but given that I only go further than western Europe if I'm away for 2 weeks or more maybe a month is reasonable!

I always imagine I'd be able to "swim" back to Earth if I were ever stuck in space. I realise in reality that's an absolute impossibility but it feels like it should be possible 🤣

Mammyloveswine · 22/11/2022 07:41

I absolutely would not... the thought of the g-force alone to get there makes me feel ill

This. 💯

BobbyBobbyBobby · 22/11/2022 07:45

I’ve more or less stopped long distance travel but I would make an exception for this. I would like to bring my dogs with me though.

FindingMeno · 22/11/2022 07:48

No.
Aside from the fact there's children starving while we piss about in space, it would spark a massive existential crisis in me.
