Bed jackets?

BorisJohnsonsHair · 20/11/2022 11:56

I'm so old I can remember these from my childhood 😂.

Is there a modern equivalent? Had a lie-in this morning and my arms were a bit chilly as I browsed Mumsnet read the Observer.

Obviously I could wear long-sleeved pyjamas but would be too hot during the night.

Any suggestions?

Put a cardigan on?

Modern equivalent would be something like this

TwigTheWonderKid · 20/11/2022 12:19

Amazingly bed jackets still exist. Send this link to your DH OP and that's your Christmas present sorted! Nice.

hugoagogo · 20/11/2022 12:20

traditional ones are still around.

I bought a short, wide, button up fleece for this very purpose! I spend a long time reading in bed at night.

Caspianberg · 20/11/2022 12:27

I have a nice merino wool cardigan with no buttons that works well for this. Discovered when I was awake bf baby in winter

ThreeKneeRepeater · 20/11/2022 12:28

I have one! It’s so useful. I wouldn’t be without it. It’s from Slenderella.
It just wouldn’t feel right to wear a cardigan or fleece in bed.

DuchessDandelion · 20/11/2022 12:31

I usually wear a long sleeved pyjama top in winter - not thick, just cotton. Does the trick.

Or i put a dressing gown on when I'm making my tea and wear it back to bed (actually what I'm doing rn as part of my Sunday lie in)

Gwenhwyfar · 20/11/2022 12:40

A long sleeved pj top is not enough for me. I have a soft hoodie on top of that too.

Survey99 · 20/11/2022 12:43

There are lots of "lounge wear", zip up or over head hoodies/tops that would fit this purpose.

maskersanonymous · 20/11/2022 12:46

They sometimes have them in Primark, I have a beautiful cream one in a very soft and silky fleece. It's basically a short dressing gown... which makes me think you could just buy a dressing gown that you like, cut the bottom off and hem it.

BlibBlabBlob · 20/11/2022 12:54

This is what Oodies are for...

Georgeskitchen · 20/11/2022 13:20

Yes I have a bed jacket!! A button up front fleecy one. I know they are a bit reminiscent of elderly ladies taking to their beds but who cares!! I love mine!!

LadyEloise1 · 20/11/2022 19:06

I have one made from the softest fleece imaginable. Got one for my Mum, then decided it was so cosy I'd get one for myself. It isn't as old fashioned looking as the one @TwigTheWonderKid linked to.
I got it in Dunnes Stores some years back.
I'm sure Primark do them as do independent lingerie stores.

username8888 · 20/11/2022 19:19

What a brilliant idea. I wouldn't wear a cardigan in bed but a nice fleece bedjacket is just what i need

Kalasbyxor · 20/11/2022 19:33

There are some lovely quilted vintage bed jackets on eBay in good used condition.

AnOldCynic · 20/11/2022 19:33

I want something like this.

What happened to my picture 😹😹

NannyGythaOgg · 20/11/2022 21:22

I have the smallest throw that B&M do. Something like 1200 x 1500. soft fleece. Then if I get too warm I can just push it to one side. No messing about putting it on or taking it off.

StaceySolomonSwash · 20/11/2022 22:08

I got a jacket insert from Wish that I use. It's fleecy, warm and zips up. Perfect for early morning MN.

Time40 · 20/11/2022 22:20

As an alternative, put your arms in the sleeves of your dressing gown so the back is over your front: very cosy and effective.

BorisJohnsonsHair · 21/11/2022 20:18

Thanks for all your suggestions. And pictures 😂.

Just ordered a fleece one from Vinted.
