Personally, I don't understand them. To me they look very grannyish.

I think they are elegant. That bride looks very beautiful.

happystory · 20/11/2022 08:49

The top of mine was very similar to the picture. Albeit 30 years ago, I did not look grannyish.

girlmom21 · 20/11/2022 08:49

She looks beautiful.

If she was large chested it'd look strange but that dress is lovely on her.

Depends on the dress and how it suits the bride. Still infinitely better than the ubiquitous strapless monstrosities that often don’t fit properly.

Limer · 20/11/2022 08:51

Love them, I had one for my wedding.

RestingMurderousFace · 20/11/2022 08:53

Fabulously elegant on the right body.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/11/2022 08:54

I can’t see what on earth is grannyish about the pic in the OP. Looks elegant and tasteful to me.

Soozikinzii · 20/11/2022 08:55

Naomi Biden looked beautiful . It suited her perfectly depends on the shape of the bride - of course !

zurala · 20/11/2022 08:56

I think they are lovely. I hate strapless wedding dresses, personally. We are all different in our tastes.

User135792468 · 20/11/2022 08:56

Strapless dresses are in my opinion cheap and a bit chavvy. Same with dresses with lots of boob. The dress in the picture is elegant.

actualnamechange · 20/11/2022 08:56

I like high necks generally I think they look lovely on other people. I couldn't wear them myself but I would never wear a wedding dress anyway!

DriftwoodOnTheShore · 20/11/2022 08:57

Elegant and stylish.

As opposed to tarty. I've yet to see a bride in a strapless gown look anything other than cheap. And constantly hoiking up the front.

RedLem0nade · 20/11/2022 08:57

I love them. Lauren Bush is always the one I think of. Stunning.

I think she looks stunning. Very Grace Kelly. I think hair needs to be exactly has she has it, which, along with that dress, wouldn’t have suited me. I had one of the ‘dreadful’, ‘ubiquitous’ strapless gowns, and I’ve never felt more special, before or since.
Each to their own :)

Whenwillitwork · 20/11/2022 09:02

I’m pretty sure I didn’t look ‘tarty’ either 😂

JustCakeInDrag · 20/11/2022 09:04

You don’t understand them? How strange.

They’re very elegant on the right figure. They look truly awful on me and my large bust. I still think the absolute pinnacle of bridal chic is Maria in long-sleeved, high-necked duchesse satin in The Sound of Music.

Anything is preferable to strapless! I’ve never liked strapless wedding dresses, at least now they look dated so hopefully less will choose them. The dress in the pic is lovely, so elegant.

Yes, the strapless dresses are tacky.

GoodVibesHere · 20/11/2022 09:07

I love that style, it's elegant. It's also waaaay sexier than an eyeful of bosom spilling over a too-small dress

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 20/11/2022 09:09

Did anyone notice the groom is wearing a brooch? Not seen that before.

Violetparis · 20/11/2022 09:10

My favourite style of wedding dress, classy and timeless.

Discoh · 20/11/2022 09:13

Far better than strapless which let's face it on 99% of people looks awful.

pocketvenuss · 20/11/2022 09:14

OP do you find high necked clothing grannyish in general or just wedding dresses?

ODFOx · 20/11/2022 09:14

The lace in your example is just a exquisite! I love a wedding dress that looks like a wedding dress rather than a ball gown in white. No preference in style as different shapes suit different people. Though the fashion for transparent bits in the bodice isn't to my taste.

BraveGoldie · 20/11/2022 09:16

All personal taste. Looks beautiful on some- but I couldn't stand these dresses on me. Partly, I felt constrained, choked and it felt itchy. Partly, my shoulders and upper chest are one of the better parts of me, so I went for that being open. Feels more free and fearless for me personally.

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/11/2022 09:18

I like them and the one in the pic is beautiful - so classy and elegant.
