SUV recommendations or cars to avoid?

Needanewcar · 13/11/2022 10:28

looking to buy a small SUV/family car.

Can anyone recommend or not recommend any?

Cars I’ve considered so far include

Ford Puma
Ford Focus (newer model)
Ford Kuga
Skoda Karoq

My friend has a Vauxhall Mokka and has had multiple issues so keen to know people’s experiences and suggestions before i spend money!

TIA

I’ve got a Skoda and I love it. Would definitely recommend

You might be better seeing what you can actually get your hands on first - the car market as it is you don’t have the luxury of choice!

Love our Q2. Wouldn’t normally have spent that much on a car however once we sat in it there was no going back. Great to drive and the back seats are comfortable too.

my friend has a Mokka and she loves it, great to drive and has had no problems.

I love the look of the puma but don’t know anyone who owns one.

Harrysnippleno3 · 13/11/2022 10:41

VW T ROC?

Loachworks · 13/11/2022 10:41

I had a Kuga and hated it, now have Volvo XC40, which I absolutely love.

CandyFloss35 · 13/11/2022 10:44

We have a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Exceed Addition absolutely love the car, we are a family of 5 and holds us all very comfortably kids ages 11-16, dh is over 6ft and I’m only little 5ft but view of the road is the best I’ve ever had. The rear chairs are all adjustable like the front ones, forwards, backwards, up, down and recline which is nice on longer journeys. It has all the mod cons like front, rear and parallel parking cameras, blind spot warning, anti crash technology front, rear and side, adaptive cruise control etc etc. Warranty is 7 years with roadside assistance, 3 years servicing included as well.

We love our VW Tiguan

I’ve been a which subscriber for many years. In the small suv/crossover they generally recommend German/Japanese Models ahead of British ones. Sad but true.

I have had and like the Honda HRV. Not sure if it’s still made but Honda have very good reliability scores.

Suzuki vitara - I had an older version, very good but quite basic.

Toyota Rav - I really like this one and will probably go for another one eventually.

FredGarland · 13/11/2022 10:56

We love our Hyundai Tucson. It was recommended by my dad. Great boot space, easy to drive, all the usual features.

Cantbebotheredwithchores · 13/11/2022 12:27

Keep with the German and Japanese models. (VW/Skoda/Toyota etc)
Better quality. Toyotas last forever!
The likes of Audi your paying for the brand Skodas are basically the same car (same engine) but cheaper

biscuitcat · 13/11/2022 12:29

I second the Hyundai Tucson, brilliant car, and comes with lots of features as standard (reverse camera, etc.)

SirChenjins · 13/11/2022 12:33

I’ve got a Karoq and don’t rate it - it drinks petrol and there’s always something going wrong with the electrics. The tyres it came with were rubbish so I ended up replacing them at great cost. I had a a Superb before this one and loved it, I just haven’t taken to my Karoq for some reason )and I researched it thoroughly before buying it).

ApplesNeverFall · 13/11/2022 12:34

Subaru Forester - roomy, lovely to drive, great quality.

Kia sportage or their 7 seater sorrento
brilliant cars loads of extras 7 year warranty
what’s not to like?

glasshole · 13/11/2022 12:37

I've got a 2019 Tiguan r line tech pack and I love it so much. It's absolutely top spec and it is so well made. Makes me happy every single time I drive it.

Bluevelvetsofa · 13/11/2022 12:38

Whereas I loved my Karoq. There’s also the Kamiq, which is a bit smaller. I wouldn’t buy VW or Audi, because Skodas are built on the same platform, but cheaper. The cabin in my Karoq and DH’s Golf was virtually identical.

Quveas · 13/11/2022 12:40

I have a SEAT Ateca, and adore it!

Afterfire · 13/11/2022 12:40

Kia Sportage - amazing cars. Beautiful and drive amazingly and have a very long warranty.
