SUV recommendations or cars to avoid?

Needanewcar · 13/11/2022 10:28

looking to buy a small SUV/family car.

Can anyone recommend or not recommend any?

Cars I’ve considered so far include

Ford Puma
Ford Focus (newer model)
Ford Kuga
Skoda Karoq

My friend has a Vauxhall Mokka and has had multiple issues so keen to know people’s experiences and suggestions before i spend money!

TIA

We loved our Seat Ateca which is similar to the Audi Q3 but miles cheaper. Now we have an electric Volkswagen ID4, which is just awesome.

Kia Sportage - amazing cars. Beautiful and drive amazingly and have a very long warranty.

TBF, before my Ateca I had a Sportage and also loved it. But when I was getting my new car the Sportage had become rather too pricely and the Ateca beat it pants down for spec on price. But I would recommend either.

I loved my Seat Tarracco! Our neighbour has the slightly smaller Ateca and that’s lovely too

I've got a Skoda Kodiaq which I have been very happy with so far. Does what it says on the tin, and is a nice comfortable place to be on a long drive. And the back seats fold completely flat very easily, which is a big plus if you need to carry bulky things at all. I found a surprising number of SUVs where the seats didnt fold completely flat, the sill was so high that it made loading stuff in and out difficult or the aperture of the door was too small, but the Kodiaq is very good in all those respects. It might be too big for what you want, but I'd imagine the Karoq is similar.

We're on our second Subaru Forrester, and both have been great cars. They've been perfect for taking the DC back and forth from uni.

What's your budget? I drove a Ford Kuga automatic as a rental (the MK2 so not the most recent one) and it was lovely, very smooth to drive and spacious inside.
