After dinner chocolates - still a thing?

Are after dinner chocolates still a thing? I remember having those Elizabeth Shaw ones after a roast dinner when my gran came round.

Also, After Eight mints.

Mint is a palate cleanser. I would just eat the whole box tbh.

Many eateries give a mint with your receipt.

I haven't been anywhere fancy enough for a mint for a long time.

A relative (in her 70s) always tells a story of how when she was a girl, her elderly grandmother would devour an entire box of Black Magic after Christmas dinner.

The children in the family would not be permitted to eat any of them - but they were allowed to line up and sniff them

We went to a nice Nepalese restaurant this week, we got chocolate cream mint each with the bill. First one I've had for ages, a pleasant finish to the meal.

Just paid a bloody fortune for fancy Royal Xmas truffles from Holyrood palace today! They're for a relative who will appreciate them after Xmas dinner.

We have just had some!

Only, as 3 of us don't like mint, we don't have after-dinner mints. Instead we indulge in a bar of Lindt 70%, or similar.

NB I am not one of the anti-minters. To be left alone with dh and a box of After Eights is one of my life's delights.

I do like After Eights. Especially if they've been kept in the fridge.

This thread has inspired me to add after dinner mints to my Christmas food shopping list.

Yes, definitely. Coffee/more wine with good chocolates, like truffles.
