Bleach

Today I had rare moment of cleaning enthusiasm and tackled some mould on the bathroom grout and walls.

Because I cannot STAND bleach, I used a large washing up bowl full of hot water and washing up liquid with about 2 tsps of bleach added, and scrubbed with the green side of a scrubby sponge. With the window wide open. That's as much bleach as I can tolerate. All came up lovely.

DH has just got in from work and says "I can smell gas in the house!!". I realised he could smell the bleach, a tiny amount, all rinsed off 6 hours ago. We're obviously similar in that respect, or he's just not used to the smell of bleach in the house lol.

My last bottle of bleach lasted me from Sept 2019 to Oct 2022, more than 3 years.

Bleach fans who go through bottles of the stuff every week - how can you tolerate it? It's utterly disgusting. It smells dirty instead of clean?

I think that bleach smells like sperm. On the rare occasions I use bleach to get the stains off my loo seats, I manage to ruin any item of clothing that I am wearing.

Ay? I hate the smell of semen but love the smell of bleach. The men I've been with have been broken!

Ooh, can someone help me? I was going to use diluted bleach to clean mould off the bedroom walls today, but a few people have recommended white vinegar instead. Do you just dilute it in water just the same? Do you use a lot or just a splash? Thanks!

All the people thinking it’s smells all clean and their guests wondering who had D&V and trying not to vomit as they come in and smell it. 😂

Yeah that's my first thought if I go to a house that smells of bleach - why have they bleached?!

Just use it neat on a cloth or neat in a spray bottle and wipe.

Oh god no the smell is awful. I'm with you OP, I have some I'm but rarely use it.

My online shop substituted some nice smelling kitchen spray, for kitchen spray with bleach. I'm sure it'll still be under the sink in 5 yrs time.

I always use bleach to clean. As an aside to OP, just reiterating NEVER side bleach with hot water!!
So it's an effective cleaner when avoiding heating water.

But a few days ago I got into bed, DH took my hand and told me that I smelled like semen and that it couldn't be his so what had I been doing all day! We then decided it can be quite the mojo killer in bed to smell like another man's jizz.

How do you use bleach and end up smelling of it yourself? Confused

AnuSTart · 13/11/2022 17:36

Yeah being more specific would've helped. I meant my hands (nothing more intimate I promise)

Do you not wear gloves. I wouldn’t want bleach on my skin at all.

I hate it but DH loves it & when my back's turned used it on EVERYTHING he actually cleans work surfaces with it (despite me continually telling him the shine will be taken off). Practically everything he owns has little white spots on & yesterday we realised poor ddog has a tiny white fleck on her!! He also smells all the different 'scents' to pick.... THEY ALL SMELL THE FECKIN SAME - like bleach!!!

RocketIceLollie · 13/11/2022 18:19

Yep those bleach 'fragrances' are odd. I'm convinced it's just the same bleach but in a different colour bottle. It's that time of year when mulled spice festive bleach will be hitting the shelves....
