I give you…

Is there a Marketplace Christmas Shite thread yet?

The ultimate present apparently

I'm actually crying 😂 😂

AuntieStella · 10/11/2022 16:22

Yes - it's in the topic

Rather too early for Xmas threads to be leaking on to the main boards

Perfect for a secret santa to someone you dislike! Like a boss from hell. Or a work bully!

MarketplaceChristmasShite · 10/11/2022 16:26

@AuntieStella is it?

Are you the thread police? 😁

No, I'm just repeating the MN norm - which has been v well observed in the last couple of years.

Some people find Christmas tough, so the norm is to keep Christmas threads in the topic until Advent, so that those who don't want to see them can hide the topic and be free of it (until the inevitable final countdown).

(And before Remembrance Day is definitely too early!)

Of course anyone can post anything anywhere. But now you know it's rooted in consideration for those in tough times, perhaps you'll join in with that.

Oh that’s so sanctimonious. I think November is ok. FGS.

Some people are so joyless.

AuntieStella · 10/11/2022 17:10

Nope - not joyless at all! Indeed, if you think about it, it's the opposite

  • all the Christmas threads you could possibly revel in, gathered together in one place - look for example at the one I linked about tat. It's as lively and funny as you could possibly want (and OP did ask if there was already one - answer is 'yes' one has been running for a little while already)

and then in addition to that, you can make MN a little friendlier towards those who find this time of year tough.

win/win

MarketplaceChristmasShite · 10/11/2022 21:26

Wow.

It’s a bit of fun @AuntieStella

Ive been on MN for years btw and am not exactly flush this year myself.

Should all other threads be removed in case they offend someone? Those asking about new cars? Houses? Animals? Gifts? Mother-in-laws? (yes I know there are specialist boards but chat covers pretty much everything)

When do you deem it appropriate to post about Christmas? 24th December?

Surely anyone who can read will see this is a discussion about Christmas and not click on it? It’s not for you to decide who can post what, and where.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 10/11/2022 21:39

I started one but no one was interested!
