Well the most a 24kw boiler is going to cost for an hour is about £2.50 (24 X the kw rate for gas, which on the price cap is around 10.2p).

It's not going to cost that as it is very unlikely to be running full pelt for the full hour. How much less is anyone's guess, depending on how warm the house was to start with, how well insulated, flow temp, how many radiators, etc, etc, etc...

I'm in a 1 bed flat with 7 radiators; I've not used more than £2.50 a day on heating, with it going on in the afternoon and staying on til midnight through October.

The first hour costs a lot more because it's getting everything up to whatever temp your thermostat is at; after that, it's just topping up as it were.

As pp have said, one size doesn't fit all and it will vary according to where you are/ how well insulated your home is etc.

Our horrible old system only runs continuously, no thermostat or coming on & off. Its costing roughly £2 a hour
