Hi when did the 2nd rise in gas/electric go up ? I have been really careful with my gas /electric. I'm doing nothing different to what I was doing a few months back. Even with the rises my cost seems to have had a massive leap . I have shown 2 pics just to get peoples opinion of the leap. Does the leap seem a bit much ?

Can you do screenshots of actual usage rather than cost?

AlisonDonut · 10/11/2022 11:16

Click the kWh button and repost.

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 10/11/2022 11:18

Prices went up from 1st Oct.

Your kwh usage went up plus the price went up on 1st October

dementedpixie · 10/11/2022 11:50

Your usage for October was nearly double what you used in September. Add on a price increase and you will pay much more

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 10/11/2022 11:51

Your usage has increased. Do you use electric heating?
However I don't think the price cap has been applied to the Oct rates. This is showing 54p per kwH for electricity and 14.6p per kwh for gas and these are above the price cap rates.
Check your actual bill. My provider shows me the amount I would pay on the uncapped rates and then applies a discount.

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 10/11/2022 11:54

You will have standing charge on top too tho.

AlisonDonut · 10/11/2022 11:55

What is in your house on gas, and what is on electricity, heating and hot water wise?

xogossipgirlxo · 10/11/2022 11:56

You nearly doubled the usage, and prices went up by 80% from 1st of Oct.

I don't understand how it's more as I'm not using more. Could they have set the meter wrong ?

Your electricity usage has increased so what electrical devices do you have that you have used more?

maximist · 10/11/2022 12:08

Have you looked at your actual statements? I'm with eon, and the numbers on the app bear no relation to those on my statements - I queried this with them, and they basically said that the app usage was rubbish but they're working on it...

ifonly4 · 10/11/2022 12:09

Why do you think they've set your meter wrong?

Do you agree with the meter readings the bills are based on?

AlisonDonut · 10/11/2022 12:10

If I was still in the UK I'd be taking readings every week and plugging them into a spreadsheet.

You need to read your meter and compare the reading to what is on the bill. It could be that you have an estimated reading for one of the months. If you have not used more, then the reading currently on the meter should be lower than the one on the bill.

I have not had my heating on at all boiler is still set on summer mode . I definitely had 66.00 added as credit to my account as part of the 400 everyone is getting I have had Oct and November payment.

There's just no reason for it to double even wiry the raise .

Did you go on holiday in September or something?

Calmdown14 · 10/11/2022 12:13

You seem to have a big fluctuation in use as September was a lot lower than August? Was that through conscious effort?
What are the big users of electric in your home? Water heaters, showers, electric heaters, oven etc.
Is there anything in that which may have changed your useage?

Definitely not estimated. I do a reading 1-2 times per week.

Its not your gas causing the increase (is it gas central heating you have?). It's your electricity that has increased greatly. Have you been using a fan heater, using a tumble drier, etc

WotsitsQuavers · 10/11/2022 12:14

Aug = 264 kw
Sept= 171 kw (168 kw)
October= 322 kw (electricity 317kw)

What happened in September? Were you in holiday and not in the house?

Slight high usage in electricity in October. What were you using it for?

CraigDavid · 10/11/2022 12:18

We had a sudden increase in our electricity; my husband had read the meter wrong. So double check you've given them the right reading!

greenisblack · 10/11/2022 12:19

What electricity do you use?
Heaters, shower, fan, tumble drier, washing machine, hairdryer?

Yeah I'm not worried about the gas side of it .

No dryer and no fan heater nothing simlar. I have lived here for 7 months. And I cut right back when I moved here as I have been worried. Everything I'm doing now is the same as I was doing 7,6,5,4,321 months ago. According the the kilowatt I have doubled my usage But I know I have not .
