Anyone still have a “slanket” or are “oodies “ better

Looking at oodies and other brands and remembered when slankets the the big thing to be all cosy . I had one years ago .

Seems to be wearable blankets, as they seem to be called, still around on Amazon . Can’t see the original slankets .

slankets versus oodies ?

My hooded blanket is warmer. It’s from dunelm and cost £16 - Best Buy this year!

I still have my slanket. Its not really wearable; it's a blanket with sleeves and then a folded over bottom seem, making a pouch for your feet. It's lovely & cosy and it's still easy to have a drink, turn the telly over etc. I've no idea what an oodie is. I'm off to Google it.

Just seen you can get the original slanket www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimate-Slanket-Sleeved-blanket-Sleeves/dp/B00A39CR68/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=Slanket&qid=1667942896&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1

The problem with the slanket was you couldn’t really walk around much in it, plus the gap at back . It’s closer to a throw, the oodie more like a hoodie .

I've got a Snuddie from Primark for around £20 and it's super comfy.

Not tried an Oodie though so can't compare.

MoriaRoseForever · 08/11/2022 21:32

I would quite like a hooded blanket that was zip up . They look a bit claustrophobic .

if anyone has a really warm one that is also zipped , let me know.

Oodie much better than a slanket

MoriaRoseForever · 08/11/2022 21:36

I like my snuggie (blanket with sleeves and no weird pockets) but I must confess to only using it occasionally because I'm one of those irritating people who are always warm.

If it's any consolation, I make shit pastry...

It depends on what you want it for. I have something like a slanket for sitting on the couch and working from home. I have the Primark snuddie for wearing in the dog park and walking the dog in the cold.
Both have their pluses and minuses.

I agree with every penny 👍🏽

I still have a slanket. I like to take it camping. I think the oodies look too warm.

JobSeekingMissile · 08/11/2022 23:15

Kudd.ly version is the best quality I've found. Bought when on offer

Cynderella · 08/11/2022 23:28

I have an Oodie - a lot of reviews said they were much warmer than alternatives. So far, it's proved too warm. I can't wear it all evening, but on the other hand, I've not needed the heating on. I hope that it'll be enough when it gets colder - plan is to have heating on to warm the house after dinner and then sit in Oodie for the evening.

Pluses over a blanket is that I can wear it to potter in the evening - I wouldn't want to wear it and cook or clean. The blanket looks even less practical for anything other than sitting still.

Singleandproud · 08/11/2022 23:33

My brother bought me a slanket as a joke and I loved it. Mine is generally kept in the car for when I'm waiting for DD when she's at her clubs. I lay on the back seat and read with the slanket over me.

We have primark Oodies indoors which are great, superwarm and you can walk around in them unlike a slanket which is a bit of a trip hazard.

Foxgluv · 09/11/2022 00:05

Oodies can get very hot but still a good thing to have. You can walk around in them but they're bulky.
Slankets are more comfortable for lounging and they cover your legs. I prefer wearing mines backwards.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 09/11/2022 00:18

I still have a fluffy onesie. I haven't had to wear it yet this year, but I like that I can hop up and move normally in it.

The only thing that isn't so good is how cold you get when you go to the loo!

TruestRepairman · 09/11/2022 00:25

Oh, I LOVED my Slanket. I'd forgotten about that.

I have an Oodie but don't like it much. I do find it claustrophobic-feeling, and heavy and bulky and you have to wrestle it on and off. I might try and get some use of it this winter, but it's only good for if you're literally just sitting around.

And even then I prefer the Slanket, as it covers your legs too. I used to wear it backwards, so the opening was at the front, then hoik it over one arm, monk-style, if I needed to get up.

Backwards ? So the opening at front ? Actually that sounds better as you can pull it round and cover better I’d have thought . Harder to make sure it doesn’t gap when at back.

That’s my worry , of feeling claustrophobic in an oddie or similar.

looking for ones as thick but zipped , zipped ones I have found are single layer and not as thick .

Me too although also use it at home. I don't want something to walk round in like an oodie as that's not when I'm cold. I love a blanket. Controversially I wear mine the wrong way round like a coat and wrap around me, perfect snuggle level without getting stuffy and having to remove something wearable. I haven't had an oodie but suspect they would drown me and don't covet legs which is my main cold but.
