Party bag 10 year old boy

Please can you recommend a really cool small toy that I could put in a party bag for 9 and 10 year olds. Will add the obligatory sweets etc but wanted to include something they’d all keep.

Tamagotchi

Asked my son who is 9 and he says "Pokemon cards"

SailingBuddy · 07/11/2022 18:16

Someone I knew put cheap retractable measuring tapes in party bags.

The kids all went mad over them! Hmm

Oh this is genius! Mine would have loved that. Or a torch. Or Pokémon cards (DD, not DD)

Needmorelego · 07/11/2022 18:59

@pastabakeonaplate have you seen the price of those ?
That would be a main present to the birthday boy type thing in my world... not a party bag gift 😂

You don't get a real one!

Where do you get cheap retractable tape measures? They're about a fiver afaik.

Needmorelego · 07/11/2022 19:37

@pastabakeonaplate why didn't you say "cyber pet" then....cos that's what they are rather than suggesting a brand name product 😂

Flyingbye · 07/11/2022 19:40

Some sort of fidgit toy. Star/galaxy infinity cube or a set of 3 magnetic rings.

Mini Rubik's cube would be great if budget allows.

Because I call them tamagotchis!

Needmorelego · 07/11/2022 19:54

@pastabakeonaplate yes but it makes you sound like one of those "I'm soooo cool I put £20 toys in my kids party bags" people !
But whatever...
I just don't recommend the ones that only cost £1. They never seem to work. The cyber pets from Flying Tiger are ok.

Well I'm not. So apologies.

Needmorelego · 07/11/2022 19:57

@pastabakeonaplate I apologise too. I did sound a bit bitchy.
Sorry 🙂

No worries. I guess it's the whole vaccum cleaner vs hoover thing.

PeekAtYou · 07/11/2022 20:01

Lego mini figure?
Match Attax? (I'm assuming that they are still around)

ASimpleLobsterHat · 07/11/2022 20:05

Do you need to do party bags? I've noticed they've been phased out at parties DS2 (just turned 10) has been to over the past year. My DS hasn't batted an eyelid, he mostly ignored party bags once he was back home from the party anyway. So I just didn't do them for his latest party - saved the effort, wasted cost and their teeth/the environment (depending on what you put in). A win all round in my book. I just sent the kids away with their bit of birthday cake.

Needmorelego · 07/11/2022 20:09

@pastabakeonaplate I've always been disappointed that 'hoover' became our standard name for vacuum cleaner rather than one of the other early brands....the 'Goblin'. Having to say "can you Goblin the living room" sounds so much cooler 😂

Meltingsocks · 07/11/2022 20:11

Plllleeasssee think of all the party bag tat that ends up in landfill and don't do this!!!

Piece of cake is fine.

Teeheehee1579 · 07/11/2022 20:16

Cake and sweets - really all that is needed. I could have despaired over the plastic tat that came home with mine on Saturday and which hasn’t been touched since so will go in the bin.

Thanks for your input, but the whole point of the post is to find something non tacky that will be kept!

Thanks for all the other ideas.

My DS said Pokemon cards but I know not all the DS collect them and more than half always seem to get discarded.

I’ll take a look at unbranded Tamagotchis 😊

Sports direct used to do a box of 20 or footballs for £60. Absolute bargain. That and a refs whistle!
