Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just enjoying my first cuppa of the day, in peace. The washer's on already & there's last night's pots staring at me from the side so I'll wash those soon.

We're going for a wander at a local shopping outlet that has an artisan market on today, so I'm getting the girls up soonish. After we've looked round there, we'll probably head to Asda in the hopes there are some hot dog rolls left for tonight.

Later on, we're going to light the burning bin, set off a few fireworks & toast marshmallows 😋

If I get chance I want to finish pinning a new zip into dd2's backpack and finish the tail of a crochet dino. Dd1 will revise for Monday's GCSE mock exam, and dd2 will probably Minecraft with her friend in the Netherlands.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! Love these cosy threads! No major plans for the day here - a movie, Lego and homework. Tonight we are going to the local bonfire/firework display with friends so will need to dig out winter coats and wellies after all this rain!

Slimjimtobe · 05/11/2022 09:20

Not in the UK so no bonfire night here
I was out this morning and back in bed just for a quick coffee.
there’s a market 30 min drive. Not sure to go or not. will go for a swim after.

RambamThankyouMam · 05/11/2022 09:23

We were all meant to go to synagogue but DD was up vomiting in the night and is still sleeping, so DH has gone just to show his face, then home.

It's drizzly so we will probably do duvets on the sofa and books/hot drinks. Nice soup for lunch and DH's baba ghanoush that he made last night.

PinkGrapefruitSorbet · 05/11/2022 09:23

Morning! Drizzly here so no big plans. DS still has a friend here from a sleepover last night and they are minecrafting or some such. DH has walked the dog in the rain (bless him) and has now gone out for his piano lesson because he's doing a diploma next month. I'm sitting with my second coffee contemplating the dishwasher. Gardening plans later on when it dries up and some more music practice for DS who has a violin exam coming up soon. Might pop to the shops for a packet of sparklers if I haven't left it too late. Don't want to go out to a fireworks display in case the dog is scared at home on her own (though she's normally not bothered).

Justonedayatatime11 · 05/11/2022 09:25

Still in bed, DH and DD downstairs making breakfast. DD has been off sick allllll week, was hoping she'd be well enough for school on Monday but I'm not convinced. Meant to be out for lunch tomorrow but that will depend on how she is.
Today is mostly rearranging furniture, setting up a new tv and popping out for a few bits and pieces. Strictly tonight and hopefully a glass of Baileys to go with it!

mondaytosunday · 05/11/2022 09:26

Still lounging in bed (have fed cats and let dogs out a couple hours ago). Up soon to drop daughter at piano lesson and dogs to the park. Then back for some food then a bit later we are off with another mum/teenager combo to see the ABBA show! The on/off train strike meant we booked a taxi - £65 each way! Then back for dinner at Pizza Express.
Frankly I'm not a huge fan, tickets were £££ plus taxi and dinner it's going to be one expensive day. I wouldn't be going at all but friend really wanted to. I'm not even that sure the girls are that into it! I'm sure it will be fun though.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 05/11/2022 09:26

Morning @lucysmam I’m just having a coffee and a croissant before I tackle the laundry.

DH is working on our bathroom today, he’s fitting a new bath and shower.

Adult DD and I are going to the big M&S near us to shop for DHs Birthday which is this week. Then we’ll go to my DParents for a cuppa and a catch up on the way home.

May do some scrap booking this afternoon or maybe just read. We’ve been swamped recently following my lovely MIL passing away so it’s nice to have some semblance of normality and the chance to just have a relaxing weekend.

DS is supposed to be working but he’s really unwell with a virus (not covid) so he’s called in sick and is coughing and spluttering I’m his room 😷

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/11/2022 09:29

meant to rain all day, bar a bit at 1
must do something constructive

Kim82 · 05/11/2022 09:31

Morning! I also love these threads.

Dh is, as usual, at work today and there’s just me and the 8yo awake at the moment. I’m drinking a cup of tea sitting on the sofa and she’s eating breakfast.

We’ve been ill all week with a sick bug and nasty colds so the house is an absolute state as it’s not been touched apart from the basics - washing the dishes and wiping down the kitchen.

I’m waiting for my shopping to be delivered, it should be here in the next half hour then I have mountains of washing to do and need to clean the house to a reasonable standard.

Nobody wants to go out today so the plan is to make toffee apples and brownies this afternoon, have hotdogs and onions for dinner then we’ll put the fire pit on in the garden this evening and get the sparklers out, toast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate whilst watching other people’s fireworks.

crossstitchingnana · 05/11/2022 09:32

Autoimmune illness so feeling sorry for myself. Currently summing up energy to get breakfast and wash up.

Later I will be trying to console my distressed dog as the fireworks happen. Hate 5th November.

ilovebagpuss · 05/11/2022 09:34

Morning, was up at sparrow fart today due to irritating DH waking me up with a bathroom visit. Had a nice cup of coffee in peace and then in laws got up to potter.
All having a nice slow breakfast and popping to a local town later that has some good shops including a lovely book shop that is great for a mooch.
Local bonfire later that DD's want to attend but it's a bit of a grey drizzly day so hoping it improves.
Hunters chicken, chips and salad for dinner later and then light the fire and find something to watch.
In laws staying until Sunday so will need to sort something for Sunday lunch. Love my in laws but will be nice to have Sunday evening to ourselves.

Worriedaboutethics · 05/11/2022 09:35

@lucysmam

cooking and then girlfriends all over for girls night and strictly!!

yeah

Natsku · 05/11/2022 09:40

Not in the UK so no bonfires or fireworks, instead its All Saint's Day here (its a moveable holiday now, to the Saturday between the 31st and the 6th rather than being on the 1st like it should be) so I'll be going to the graveyard with my children so my DD can light a candle for her dad at the gravestone for the dead buried elsewhere and I'll light one for my grandparents etc. Going to wait until its dark though, as then it looks beautiful, the graveyard a sea of candles.

Otherwise nothing else to do today, circus school is finished for the autumn, leaving the food shop for tomorrow, so will just stay home, heat the boiler a few times to warm up the house (wood fired boiler for now) and get some ironing done.

h78 · 05/11/2022 09:41

We got back from Rome late yesterday afternoon so I'm going to tackle the mounds of washing and making sure the kids are up to date with getting school stuff ready for Monday.

Deathraystare · 05/11/2022 09:44

Working am (so far it is quiet!). Tidying up pm.

AllotmentTime · 05/11/2022 09:45

Morning all

I’ve done nothing so far unless you count making/drinking coffee. Been sleeping badly all week so planning to stay in bed till DH and the DC get back from swimming.

We did fireworks last night and it’s forecast to rain all day, so I think today will be homework/board games/Strictly later and not much else. Maybe some housework.

I’m making chilli for tea (my fave) and I’ve just realised I forgot to get sour cream, so will pop out at some point for that.

Later we are FaceTiming my DPs for a catch up. Send sympathy to my DH because it’s always a bit excruciating 🤣 my DDad can never hear that well on a speakerphone or iPad, and everyone repeats everything. Plus there’s always a bit where they forget to look at their camera and we’re just staring up their noses. Love ‘em though.

AllotmentTime · 05/11/2022 09:46

Oh and I need to do about twenty five loads of washing, because what with one thing and another I’ve neglected it all week.

onwardandupwards · 05/11/2022 09:57

Having a cup of tea whilst doing the enormous pile of bedding, both little ones wet the bed, dd 4 then got in mine for a cuddle and split her cup of warm milk, so have a mountain of washing! Taking dd to her first party later shes very excited, then sparklers and pizza tonight.

MyGirlDaisy · 05/11/2022 09:59

My lot all out today so just me and the dog. Currently drinking a coffee in peace, it’s cold and drizzly so going to have a quick tidy round and then start on my Christmas chutney. Might make a cake too. Will walk the dog later then pop in to see
my parents. Hot Dogs and Baked Potatoes later in front of Strictly.

Simonjt · 05/11/2022 10:06

Morning, we’ve been on a walk into the city this morning, so the dog is having a nap.

I have rugby tots soon, it has been cancelled the last few weeks due to issues at the venue, so I’m looking forward to it being back. My team have an away game today, I’m still not playing so I’ll take the smalls to watch it, hopefully I’ll be cleared to play sometime this week. Our son starts Kirtan school soon, so we have his registration today and there will be a few activities, food etc as part of that.

Tonight we’re going to ally pally to see the fireworks, so we need to find our daughters ear defenders. My husband has a serious case of manflu, so I don’t think he’ll be doing much today, the baby hasn’t slept well at all this week, so we’re both a bit tired.

outoftimeagain · 05/11/2022 10:06

Been up since 5.30am so I’ve been trying to rewatch all episodes of The Crown before the new season starts this week. I’ve been out to collect a parcel and now back on the sofa. It’s a rather dreich day here so I’m happy I don’t need to go out until later. My only plans for the day are doing some online Christmas shopping and a bit of decluttering. Tonight we’re going to PILs to celebrate MILs birthday with a chinese, birthday cake and some sparklers. Hopefully we’ll be able to watch other people’s fireworks too. Then home to catch up on last night’s Googlebox and read more of my book.

greentitbirdnotboob · 05/11/2022 10:08

Morning everyone!
DP is at work this morning. Got the laundry in already, moved some clutter, and looked through a pile of bills that I’ll have to find solutions for later.

Not in the UK so no bonfire night for me, sadly. But the weather is looking good here, so I’ll look for somewhere nice for us all to have a walk. Until then it’ll be more cups of tea and as much tidying up as I can get through before DP gets home.

Enjoy the 5th November sights, smells, tastes and sounds everyone! I really do miss it all x

IntrovertedPenguin · 05/11/2022 10:10

No major plans here today. DS11 and myself hate fireworks so ds6 will be watching them out the window. 😅

Just popped to the corner shop for sugar, need to go food shopping in a bit.
Will be having a really chilled out weekend as it's been non stop in our house for a few weeks and both DC are knackered like coming home from school and being grumpy tired tired. 😅

Breathmiller · 05/11/2022 10:12

Morning lucysmam

Lazy morning today, had some coffee and some gf ginger cake (Saturday is breakfast cake day 🤩😋)

Dh is just jumping in the shower then we are getting the shelves put up in our kitchen which means a massive deal. We are in the middle of some major works in the kitchen and it can be chaos. The shelves take up our whole upper unit space. Can't wait to have a bit more space and get my kitche things out of the attic. I'll spend the afternoon getting things out of boxes and making the shelves look nice.

Plan is to go to a bonfire and fireworks night later on where we will have chips from the van there for tea. It is a bit drizzly here though so hoping it clears a bit. Probably just go anyway and dress up warm.

I am trying to get outside every day at the moment (I can be guilty of hibernating in winter months) so I will go for a play in the woods if the rain clears, just in case it is to wet to go out tonight. I saw a woodpecker the other day. I hear them often but have always wanted to see one in action. It was fab.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 05/11/2022 10:13

Nursing a hangover. Today's Sesame Street moment: flavoured vodka is still vodka.
Cleaning and some work to do. Debating going out tonight - I fancy Ronnie Scott's but don't know if can be bothered as tickets are only available for the early show.
To the pp - ABBA is great!!! Hope you enjoy.
