Hello,
this might sound like a weird request but I don’t spend much time at home and I would really like to. I always seem to just go out and mooch around for no reason.

tomorrow I’d love to take the dog for a walk and then not go sit in a cafe but come home to a lovely breakfast spread, really make it something delightful to luxuriate in.

im trying not to eat any sugar (just chocolates sweets biscuits etc) and am avoiding bread but other than that, I’m pretty much game to try/eat anything as long as it’s delicious.

what would you do/go for??

thanks mumsnet!!

Porridge with grated apple and sultanas and a drizzle of honey

scrambled egg, spinach, cherry toms and bacon. could add rye/soda/gluten free toast as an alternative to bread?

Fruit salad (tin of pineapple, chopped apple, grapes, orange etc)

Luxurious drink - tea leaves in a teapot or proper coffee in a cafetière?

Blueberry pancakes, bacon and maple syrup (not sure if that scuppers your no sugar plan).

Would you have banana or blueberry pancakes? I serve chopped banana or blueberries with mine. Improved by maple syrup, but that is optional. Both receipts from the bbc food website (the ones with the most good reviews).

Shakshuka? There's loads of good recipes online.

I love a good breakfast hash. All the best bits of a fry up (sausage, bacon, black pudding if you like, mushrooms) chopped and tossed with diced potatoes and chopped onion and fried off til cooked then served with a fried egg on top. You could through some Indian spices on the potatoes for flavour/a change if you fancy.

Kedgeree always makes a nice treat breakfast/brunch too.

Keto granola with a chopped banana, M&S 20% Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey. Basically pudding for breakfast!

BobbyBobbyBobby · 04/11/2022 19:00

Crumpets with butter amen marmite and cheddar slices on the side.

Hot chocolate.

Blocked · 04/11/2022 19:00

Warm banana bread with green yoghurt, fruit and honey.

SettingPrecedents · 04/11/2022 19:01

Eggs royale - skip the muffin if you’re not having bread.

VinoDino · 04/11/2022 19:02

Another vote for shakshuka, sprinkled with feta and served over spinach (or sourdough when I'm not avoiding bread!).

Ricotta and banana pancakes?

DelilahBucket · 04/11/2022 19:13

My favourite is Huevos Rancheros.

KitchenSupper · 04/11/2022 19:16

Shakshuka if you weren’t avoiding bread.
Fried eggs but put grated halloumi in the whites immediately after putting the eggs in the pan

Bluevelvetsofa · 04/11/2022 19:23

Aldi Greek yogurt with soft fruits in season or other fruits when not, honey drizzle and flaked almonds.

JennyForeigner · 04/11/2022 19:27

Fluffy pancakes with yoghurt, any random fruit and a drizzle of honey.

Any recipe online with baking soda will work like a dream and they take five minutes, so are a weekend treat at ours.

Good coffee is the secret to feeling you are having fancy breakfast imho.

SeasonaIVag · 04/11/2022 19:28

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs the are our favourite or eggs Benedict

Blueberrycreampie · 04/11/2022 19:38

I was thinking about this today and decided I would love a toasted bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Winterfires · 04/11/2022 19:41

Sweet corn fritters and baked eggs

howaboutchocolate · 04/11/2022 19:46

A continental breakfast. Plain croissants with some nice fruit. Slices of good cheese, salami, ham etc.

SucreSalty · 04/11/2022 19:47

Can't believe nobody said it yet but FULL ENGLISH! made with hash brows and quality sausages

MintyCedricHereWeGoAgain · 04/11/2022 19:50

Veggie sausages, poached eggs, hash browns and a large grilled tomato

Omelette...3 eggs, spinach, mushrooms, bacon and halved cherry tomatoes.

Huevos Rancheros.

Tbh any really indulgent breakfast for me would involve bread or sugar...probably both!

MissyB1 · 04/11/2022 19:52

I have porridge oats with added
mixed seeds (sunflower pumpkin linseed chia)
dried cranberries
raisons

AdaColeman · 04/11/2022 19:53

Toasted brioche spread with cream cheese and topped with jam, black cherry preferably but apricot is good too. (Brioche is full of nourishing egg and butter so it doesn't count as bread.)

Porridge with a splosh of cream and some maple syrup or brown sugar is delicious.

etulosba · 04/11/2022 19:53

Agree on the full English, but with fried potatoes rather than American hash browns.

dubyalass · 04/11/2022 20:01

I am saving this thread for future ideas. So many delicious things!

I'm going to suggest Turkish scrambled eggs (menemen) - always good with flatbread but equally tasty alone.

Fried/grilled mushrooms with a poached egg on top, maybe a little gorgonzola crumbled into the mushrooms.

Waffles if you have a waffle maker.

Breakfast burritos

But I'm going for pancakes myself.
