What mattress do you have?

Hi All,

I am in desperate need of a nice new mattress having slept on a horrid one for years!

Been and sat on a few and I think I rather like the spring mattresses with the layer of gel/memory on top (think they are called Hybrid?). I don’t want anything too firm.. I suppose just medium?

I did look into Simba and Emma mattresses but seeing lots of mixed reviews.

Looking to get other opinions and recommendations please!

Thanks x

We have an Emma. I hate it, but this may be because I just hate memory foam.

Rachell1 · 04/11/2022 14:57

Do you find it gets too hot as I am hearing that you can get quite sweaty with memory foam?

I have a hypnos mattress with a panda memory foam topper and it's the best of both worlds I love it.

Vispring. I plan to be buried with it.

I got an Otto which is similar to a Simba or an Emma in that it comes rolled up. Loved it for 2 years but now it's saggy (we are heavy people though!). Waiting to move house so we can get a bigger bed but I'll be getting a 'proper' mattress at that time

I have a tempur mattress. I love it - sooo compfy. In fact if I didn't have to get up for the loo in the morning I'd never get out of it!

SavingsThreads · 04/11/2022 15:24

IKEA. Cheap, comfy, and easy to get!

@SavingsThreads , which IKEA please? Also looking for one..

VapeVamp12 · 04/11/2022 15:46

We've got the Emma, I really love it, very comfortable.

whirlyhead · 04/11/2022 15:49

If you can afford it - tempur. Not at all hot, but so comfie. Mine is 18 years old and I still adore it. I have a simba too (the Emma was too hard) but it’s gone a bit saggy after 5 years and the tempur is still fab.

SavingsThreads · 04/11/2022 16:09

@YogaLite I have the hyllestad as it came with a firm option which I wanted. Has started sagging now (7yrs in) as I sleep in the middle!

NotMeNoNo · 04/11/2022 16:16

Hypnos Premier Inn mattress. Great. Also you can try it out at a Premier Inn first!
Also, if you have a relative who works for Whitbread group you can get them at a substantial discount.

bilbodog · 04/11/2022 16:20

Wool mattress from the wool room - wonderful.

hoochyhag · 04/11/2022 16:24

Tempur, still amazing after 8 years.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 04/11/2022 16:39

I would avoid Simba like the plague. We got their more expensive one and after 18 month it was already so saggy it was messing up our backs - and we're not particularly heavy people (albeit both tall). We've just replaced with a Hypnos as we've never had issues at Premier Inns and because you can turn and flip it I think it might last longer!

Can't believe the money per month of use we probably blew on the Simba, grrrr....

MaisyMary77 · 04/11/2022 16:43

We’ve got a Tempur. It’s ten years old and still fantastic.

Chloefairydust · 04/11/2022 16:51

After sleeping on the comfiest bed I have ever slept on in a rented holiday cottage I checked the label of the mattress and it was durabed. Literally like sleeping on a cloud.

So I searched the internet for a place that sold durabed matresses online and bought one as we were ready for a new mattress anyway. The mattresses are really good quality I think they are made with wool and springs and that they are made in the UK. Perfect amount of support but softness.

Bluevelvetsofa · 04/11/2022 16:51

Tempur. The more recent ones don’t make you hot as previous generation ones apparently did. It’s a super king and was very expensive, but so comfortable.

Xfghjj · 04/11/2022 16:54

We have a John Ryan by Design mattress. It's bliss. Can't get on with the beds in a box, they make me too hot and everyone I know who has one says they start to sag early on!

Topseyt123 · 04/11/2022 17:04

We have an Emma. It is fine. Works well for us.
