Downsides of being single? (lighthearted)

OutDamnedSpot · 27/10/2022 21:46

I’ve been single for nearly three years now, and the thing I still find difficult is…

Changing a king sized duvet cover. I mean, how? The duvet is so heavy, I can’t quite flick it well enough to get it in properly. I love being divorced. I hate changing the bloody cover.

What are your downsides?

None. Zilch. Zero

The upsides would be endless 😁

KangarooKenny · 27/10/2022 21:50

I manage to change a super king duvet all by myself.

OutDamnedSpot · 27/10/2022 21:50

This is a very good point. The upsides thread would be longer (and more fun!)

How @KangarooKenny? What am I missing? (Apart from strength, and super long arms, obvs)

I once thought I was going to have to cut myself out of a dress when I came home from a night out. I could not reach the neck.

fwiw, I'm so much happier in a relationship- 15 years single and was thoroughly sick of it!

KangarooKenny · 27/10/2022 21:54

I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve just got the knack. Maybe it’s in the wrist action.

SpinningFloppa · 27/10/2022 21:59

No sex

Soberfutures · 27/10/2022 22:03

I put my duvet over the landing bannister ( Not sure if that's the right term lol) turn the cover inside out. Put my hands inside so holding the outside. Grab the corners and then shake the duvet over the rails but keeping most of the weight on it. Then once it's atleast over half the duvet a put it all on the rails and then put the other corners in. Shake it to even on and then fasten.

Ha I'm bad at giving directions 😅

EVHead · 27/10/2022 22:05

Someone to make me a drink. Take the bins out. Cut the grass. I can do all the things, but sometimes I get fed up having to do all the things.

Then I remind myself what a git he was … 😆

Soberfutures · 27/10/2022 22:07

Like this but over the bannister

GoodSister · 27/10/2022 22:23

Beetles. I’m fine with spiders, and insects in general but ex-h was good when it came to beetles in the house (well twice in 25 years) 😁

Coffeesnob11 · 27/10/2022 22:30

I quite often have to ask a colleague to do my dress up properly at work as i can never get them to do up all the way. The only other downsides is it is damn lonely at night after my Dc gone to bed at 7.

Google the burrito method for changing duvets. I'm not single but tend to do this by myself with a super king!

Whatthetrolley · 27/10/2022 22:41

Another vote for the bannister method!!!

LadyInGreene · 27/10/2022 22:41

Lack of romance or anticipation/excitement of a hot date.

Holiday deals seem to be designed for couples.

Very happy to realise I can’t think of anything else. 😁

DD deals with them for me, despairing at how pathetic I am

I actually can't think of single downside of being single !

Appalonia · 27/10/2022 22:48

No one to go on holiday with 😔

hilariousnamehere · 27/10/2022 22:49

Just spiders. And maybe that life is more expensive on a single income, but it's a price I am very ok with paying because I love my life :)

I had two long happy relationships and I'm still so much happier single (nine years now) that it baffles me that more people don't choose it permanently!

Bigslippers · 27/10/2022 22:55

I’m still trying to think of a downside
🤔
I’ll get back to you OP I promise if I can think of any

chineapplepunks · 27/10/2022 22:57

JustEat often has a minimum spend of about £10, and sometimes I don't want that much food.

Being cold in bed alone during the winter months

hilariousnamehere · 27/10/2022 23:01

Electric blanket!! Cosier than a bloke, no cold feet or farting 😁

Bugger that was meant to quote this post 🤦🏻‍♀️

echt · 27/10/2022 23:12

May the widowed join?

I'm fine with the duvet, another one for over the banister.
